교육연극의 교육적 의미 고찰 - 교육본위론적 관점을 중심으로

국문 초록

교육연극은 문화예술교육의 대표적인 복합학문이자 실천적 응용학문으로서 ‘연극학’과 ‘교육학’에서 다루는 대상에 대한 이해가 우선되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 교육학에서 다루는 ‘교육이란 무엇인가’에 대한 근원적 탐구를 기반으로 하여 교육연극 활동의 교육적 의미를 고찰하였다. 먼저 기존 교육연극의 이론과 활동에서의 교육적 의미를 전인교육, 교과 교육에의 활용, 예술적 체험, 융복합성의 4가지로 범주화하여 정리하였으며, 이 과정에서 순수한 교육학적 관점에서의 논의가 부족했음을 문제점으로 제시하였다. 이의 대안으로 도입한 교육본위론은 교육현상 자체에 대한 탐구로서 교육연극 활동의 특징을 해석하기에 적합한 관점의 이론이다. 이를 위하여 교육본위론의 여러 영역 중에서 교육연극 활동의 해석과 관련한 교육의 구조, 교육 활동의 실천적 성격, 교육의 내재적 가치 등 세 가지 측면을 중심으로 검토하였다. 이를 토대로 교육연극 활동은 언어적 소통의 한계를 극복하는 체험적 측면을 갖는다는 점, 드라마적 상상력 ‘as∼if’는 배움과 가르침의 활동에서 작용하고 있다는 점, 예술적·미적 체험의 특성과 놀이로서의 특성을 갖는 교육연극 활동은 교육활동의 내재적 가치를 실현할 수 있다는 점에서 교육적 의미를 재해석하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to contemplate on the educational meanings of drama education activities from a perspective of the Endogenous Theory of Education which is a theory on the essence of education. First, drama s ‘educational language’ performs media function of educational activities in a holistic, expressional form that contains both rational and emotional dimensions such as gestures, facial and behavioral expressions. Second, the dramatic imagination ‘as~if’, affects the theory s ascending education in two ways: one through the learner’s ‘willing suspension of disbelief’; and the other through the learner’s participation in dramatic fiction believing in the authority of teachers. In descending education, the dramatic imagination affects out of the principle of the regressive order related to arrangement of stages in the intrinsic rules of education. Third, the artistic/esthetic experiences and playful dimensions of drama activities can actualize the intrinsic value of educational activities. Just as most educational experiences, the nature of ‘spontaneity’ is a common foundation of drama practices and induces self-motivated and voluntary participation. From the view of Endogenous Theory, drama education activities enable participants to stay focused and get immersed, and at the same time, inspire appropriate subsequent experiences that are truly educative.
