국문 초록

본 연구는 최근에 주목 받고 있는 문화예술활동의 활용에 관한 것으로부터 시작되었다. 즉, 비예술교과의 학습을 위해 문화예술활동을 활용하는 ‘문화예술활동 기반 교육’의 개념적 의미와 특징, 그리고 이론적 배경으로서 ‘구성주의(constructivism)’와의 관련성을 탐구하고자 하였다. 현재 교육을 위하여 문화예술활동을 활용한 사례들이 등장하고 있으나, 그 용어와 개념 정의가 모호한 가운데 진행되고 있어 의미와 목적은 서로 같으나 표현된 용어는 서로 다른 경우가 많다. 하여 본 연구에서는 ‘문화예술활동 기반 교육’이라는 용어로 그 의미를 대표하여 공통적 특징을 분석하였다. 또한 문화예술활동 기반 교육과 구성주의와의 관련성을 탐구하여 인지적․정서적․실천적 측면에서 유사성을 발견하였다. 공통적 특징과 관련성을 살펴본 결과, 문화예술활동기반 교육에서의 문화예술활동은 단순한 기능위주의 예능활동이 아닌 비예술교과의 교육 내용이 담긴 ‘개념’이 내재되어 있는 활동이라는 점을 추출할 수 있었다. 또한 이러한 활동이 전제되었을 때에 비로소 구성주의적 교육환경과 연계가 될 수 있다. 구성주의적 학습환경과 맞물리는 문화예술활동 기반 교육은 지식의 통합과 재해석, 학습자 상호간의 교류와 자신에 대한 성찰의 기회를 제공할 수 있다. 이러한 풍부한 학습환경은 학습자로 하여금 다각적인 경험을 가능하게 한다.

영문 초록

This study started from the utility of culture and arts activity in the field of education which recently has been receiving attention. Lately, there have been some cases using culture and arts activity for education, but it has been done while the definition of the term or concept is still being ambiguous. Though the meaning or purpose is the same, the terms are used differently. Therefore, this study set the term of ‘culture and arts activity-based education’ as the representation of the meaning and analyzed their common characteristics. Also, the paper explored the relationship between culture and arts activity-based education and constructivism and found their similarities from cognitive, affective, and practical aspects. Based on the result of examining their relationship and common characteristics, the study extracted a point that the culture and arts activity used in culture and arts activity-based education is not the art activity simply focused on function but the activity internalizing the ‘concept’ including education. With the premise on that activity, it can be connected with the constructivistic education environment providing knowledge integration and reinterpretation, exchange among learners, and opportunities for self-reflection. The culture and arts activity-based education intermingled with the constructivistic education environment will be able to provide learners with richer learning experiences.
