This study examined the effects of career exploration group art therapy on career awareness and motivation in elementary school students. The subjects of the study were 22 fifth grade students of S elementary school in D district of Seoul who volunteered for the program with the permission of their parents. These participants were randomly allocated to two groups of 11 students each, the experimental group and the control group. The career exploration group art therapy program had a total of 12 sessions, once session a week for 80 minutes per session. Tools used in this study included tests on career awareness and motivation. The Wilcoxon signed ranks test was conducted using SPSS 24.0. The results are as follows. First, the career exploration group art therapy for the experiment group had a statistically significant effect on the 4 sub-factors of career awareness, self-understanding, understanding the world of work and occupation, positive attitudes and values toward work, and rational career decision making. Second, in the case of the experiment group, the career exploration group art therapy had a statistically significant effect on 2 of the 4 sub-factors in motivation, which were the intrinsic motivations of challenge and enjoyment. Third, as a result of analyzing the step-by-step process of the career exploration group art therapy, career awareness of the career exploration group was enhanced. This resulted in a positive change in motivation.
