‘대학원생-지도교수 관계’ 언론보도에 대한 비판적 담론분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 언론보도에 드러난 대학원생과 지도교수 간 관계에 대해 비판적 담론분석을 실시함으로써 한국사회의 관련 담론과 사회문화적 구조를 살펴보고자 하였다. 자료 분석은 2015년과 2017년 사이 대학원생과 지도교수에 대한 언론보도 추이를 주제별로 구분한 후, 2017년 자료에 초점을 맞추어 진행하였다. 분석 결과, 대학원생과 지도교수에 대한 언론보도 양이 점차 증가하였고, 특히 대학원생과 지도교수 사이 갑을문제와 대학원생 인권 침해 등에 집중한 경향을 보였다. 다음으로 비판적 담론분석의 첫 번째 텍스트 차원에서는 대학원생과 지도교수, 그리고 두 집단 간 관계를 규정하는 단어를 살펴보았으며, 갑을관계가 핵심 단어였다. 두 번째 담론 실천 차원에서는 대학원생과 지도교수에 대한 담론이 한국사회 내 다양한 집단 사이 갑을관계로 확장되고 대학원생의 정체성과 권리에 대한 구체적 담론으로 발전하는 과정을 보여주었다. 세 번째 사회ㆍ문화적 실천 차원에서는 대학원생의 저항적 움직임과 대학 및 사회적 차원의 대학원생 인권보호를 위한 법적·제도적 장치 마련으로 이어지는 사회적 효과를 확인하였다. 이와 함께 현재 학생 또는 노동자로 지칭되는 대학원생의 실체를 명확하게 하고 그 실체에 담긴 대학원생과 지도교수를 둘러싼 한국 사회의 노동시장 구조와 이들에 대한 사회적 시각을 밝히고자 했다.

영문 초록

This study conducted critical discourse analysis (CDA) on the relationship between graduate student and advisor from the media coverage in order to explore the related discourse and sociocultural structure in the Korean society. The media coverage from 2015 to 2017 were analyzed to find its reporting trend by theme, and CDA was conducted focusing on the data in 2017. Results showed that the media coverage on graduate student and advisor had increased gradually, especially on the Gap-Eul relationship and the infringement of graduate students’ human rights. Subsequently, the first dimension of text analysis in CDA analyzed how graduate student, advisor, and their relationship were defined, and the Gap-Eul relationship was a key word. The second dimension of discourse practice showed the process where the discourse on graduate student and advisor expanded to the Gap-Eul relationship among various groups in the Korean society. It also showed the development of the discourse into detailed topics such as graduate students’ identities and rights. The third dimension of social/cultural practice showed the discourse leading to graduate students’ resistant moves and the social effect of creating legal and institutional measures to protect graduate students’ human rights at the university and social levels. In this dimension, the analysis also tried to clarify the true nature of graduate students, who are called as students or workers, and show the structure of labor market in the Korean society, surrounding graduate students and advisors as well as the societal perspectives towards them.
