상업계고등학생의 아비투스에 따른 학교생활 방식

국문 초록

본 연구는 사회경제적 배경이 낮은 학생이 많은 소도시 상업계 여자고등학생들의 학교생활에서 나타나는 아비투스를 살펴보고, 이를 통해 상업계 고등학생들이 학교생활에 수동적이고, 학업에 무관심하게 반응하는 이유를 새로운 시각에서 이해해보고자 하였다. 연구의 목적을 위해 소도시 지역 여자상업고등학교 학생들을 대상으로 학교생활을 관찰하고, 면담을 통한 문화 기술연구방법을 사용하였다. 그 결과, 상업계 고등학생들은 스콜레적 상황이 부재한 삶으로 학구적 아비투스가 부재하고, ‘필요취향’에 기인한 순수사유에 대한 거부 혹은 소극적 수용으로 인해 학습이 부진하다. 또한 학교의 언어 및 아비투스와 구분되는 학생들의 언어 및 아비투스로 인해 학교에 부적응하는 경향이 있다. 더불어 상업계 학교의 진학은 인문계 학생과 단절되고 나아가 사회적 경계선이 확립되는 실마리가 되고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study aims to investigate the school lifestyle of commercial highschool students, which is expressed in their habitus. For this study the ethnographic method including the interviews was employed. The results of this study are as followings: (1) The students who are poorly performing have few scholastic habitus because they are in the vortex of the hardship of their life owing to their disadvantaged home environment. (2) Because the students language used in their home is different from the school language, the teachers have the tendency to believe that the students are deficient in the scholastic language in the school. (3) The students are not favorable to the pure speculation which are contrasted with their need taste. The findings of this study suggest that the vocational school teachers should deeply understand the features of the habitus of their students and accommodate them in the educational process with the high regard for their habitus.
