미술치료 매체로서 사진 활용에 관한 체계적 문헌고찰

국문 초록

사진이 문화 전반에 걸쳐 활용되고 현대인들이 빈번하게 사용하는 시각언어로 자리하면서 최근 정신건강분 야에서도 사진 활용이 증가하는 추세다. 이에 본 논문은 체계적 문헌고찰을 통해 사진이 심리치료의 매체로 활 용된 연구를 고찰하고, 이를 바탕으로 향후 사진미술치료(PAT) 연구방향을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 온라인 데 이터베이스에서 사진, 상담？심리치료, 미술치료와 관련된 주요어로 검색하여 2017년 2월 28일 이전에 출판된 145편의 자료들 중 1) 연구참여자가 있거나 문헌연구인 논문, 2) 상담？심리치료와 미술치료 분야에서 치료매체 로서 사진 활용에 관한 연구의 두 가지 조건을 만족하는 66편의 문헌을 고찰하였다. 결과에 따르면 사진 기술 의 발달과 함께 치료매체로서 사진 활용에 변화가 있었고, 사진 활용 유형에는 1) ‘사진치료기법(PTT)’과 미술 작업, 2) 자율적 표현의 도구로써 사진작업, 3) 사진작업의 결과물을 통한 자기개방과 자기이해, 4) 예술 기반 질적연구 도구와 사진유도, 5) 회상 사진과 미술작업, 6) 글쓰기, 명상, 마음챙김과 사진작업이 있었다. 특히 사 진미술치료(PAT)는 사진창작 과정, 사진을 활용한 미술작업 과정, 결과물을 통한 탐색 과정 전반에 미술치료사 가 사진을 치료매체로 활용하여 개입하며 다양한 사진 활용 경향을 보였다. 향후 사진미술치료(PAT) 연구에는 치료개입에 따른 다면적 사진 활용과 사진의 치료적 요인에 주목할 필요가 있음을 제언한다.

영문 초록

The use of photography has been increasing among mental health professionals as photography had been disseminated at a sociocultural level and become the most prevalent visual language for people today. This systematic review aimed to investigate the use of photography as therapeutic media and to suggest a direction for further photo art therapy (PAT) studies. For the study, 145 pieces of literature published before February 28, 2017, were identified by searching an online database. The inclusion criteria were as follows: (a) studies with participants or literature reviews and (b) studies on the therapeutic use of photography in counseling, psychotherapy, and art therapy. The resulting 66 selected articles showed that the use of photography has been changing as photography develops. Categories for utilization of photography were as follows: (a) photo therapy techniques and art-making, (b) photographing as an autonomous expression, (c) enhancing self-disclosure and self-awareness through photography, (d) art-based qualitative research tools and photo elicitation, (e) art-making with reminiscence photography, and (f) writing, meditation, and mindfulness with photography. PAT followed a trend that various ways of using photography have been implemented according to art therapists’ interventions during the process of photographing, art-making with photography, and exploring the artwork. Future PAT studies should focus on multifaceted utilization of photography based on art therapy interventions and the related therapeutic factors.
