정신장애에 대한 예비미술치료사들의 태도: 타 전공생과의 비교연구

국문 초록

최근 정신건강 상담분야에 미술치료의 도입이 유망해짐에 따라 미술치료사들이 정신장애에 대해 어떤 태도 를 가지고 있는지에 대한 연구가 필요한 시점이다. 과거 치료와 처방 중심의 의학적 모델과는 달리, 정신장애 의 사회적 모델에서는 치료사가 가지고 있는 태도가 서비스 사용자에게 중요한 작용을 하기 때문에 이를 위한 교과과정 수립을 위한 기초연구는 매우 중요하다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 서울시내 4년제 대학에서 미술치료 를 전공하는 학생들을 대상으로 2015년 3월에서 6월에 걸쳐 정신장애에 대한 태도(OMI)를 조사하였고, 이항 로 지스틱 회귀분석방법을 사용하여 이를 타 전공자와 비교분석하였다. 미술치료 전공자들이 타 전공자에 비해 OMI가 유의미하게 긍정적인 것으로 나타났으나, 다섯 가지 하위척도들 중에서는 권위주의적 태도와 자비심 외 정신위생관념, 사회적 제약, 대인인과관계에서는 타전공자와 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 정신장애에 대한 올 바른 태도함양을 위해 예비미술치료사들이 정신병리에 대한 지식을 익히도록 관련 교과목을 교과과정 내에 두 고 있으나, 정신장애에 대한 태도는 교과목 수강 갯수와는 크게 관계가 없었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 예비미 술치료사들에게 정신장애에 대한 올바른 태도를 교육시킬 방법에 대한 제언점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

With the recent trend of art therapy in the field of mental health counseling, art therapists' attitudes toward psychiatric disabilities have been a talking point in research. Attitude is the most critical issue in the social model of disability as it relates to mental health, whereas the medical model focuses on prescriptions and treatments. In order to educate art therapists regarding appropriate attitudes toward psychiatric disabilities to the art therapists, basic research comparing students who major in art therapy and those who major in other fields is necessary. In this study, attitudes toward the psychiatric disabilities of students in the department of art therapy were compared with those of students in other departments in universities in Seoul, South Korea. The students who are in the department of art therapy were more positive than the students in other majors overall, especially in the subscale of authority and unsophisticated benevolence. There were no significant differences on other subscales such as mental hygiene ideology, social restrictiveness, or interpersonal etiology. Knowledge-based education had no effect on their attitudes toward mental illness. Based on the results of this study, recommendations for the curriculums of art therapy were discussed to educate art therapists regarding appropriate attitude toward clients with mental illness.
