무의식의 의식화에 관하여 : 무의식 이론의 의미론적 대안이론을 찾아서

국문 초록

본 연구는 먼저 미술치료 이론과 임상에서 끊임없이 사용되는 ‘무의식’이라는 개념의 본질적 필요성에 관한 미술치료 선구자들의 입장을 정리해 본다(2장). 다음으로 전통적 정신분석학과 분석심리학이 종용하는 무의식에 대한 이해가 과학-경험적 내용을 결여하고 있음을 지적한 후, 현대인지과학이 알려주는 내용과 의견을 기초로 무의식의 존재론적 타당성 및 형이상학적 언급을 거부하도록 논거한다(3장). 그리고 무의식을 포함한 의식일반이 가지는 ‘의식의 지향성’에 관한 의미론적(따라서 비존재론적) 해석의 가능성을 타진하면서, 문제가 된 경험검증적 환원성에 초점을 둔 대안 이론으로 무법칙적일원론(Anomalous Monism)을 추천하여, 때로 무비판적인 사용으로 오도될지도 모르는 무의식탐사 ― 특히 그림 해석에 관련된 심리탐사 ― 에 대한 염려를 무의식에 관한 좀 더 면밀하고 분명한 통찰력으로 바꿔줄 수 있도록 노력한다(4장). 그리고 무의식의 의미론적 상승(semantic ascent)을 통한 의식화를 결론으로 추구한다.

영문 초록

'In the following a few pages, I shall first briefly estimate the value of the unconscious as an essential theoretic ingredient in and for art therapy(Section II) after a brief introduction(Section I); renounce the ontological, if not functional, status of the unconscious having no empirically verifiable contents in terms of the current scientific findings and opinions on the unconscious(Section III); then propose and develop an alternative reading of the unconscious by virtue of new interpretations or standpoints about the unconscious especially from cognitive sciences that might help art therapists get a clearer understanding of the unconscious in their art therapy practice(Section IV), followed by the conclusion(Section V) that there is a possibility of making the unconscious conscious through semantic ascent. This paper aims neither an added knowledge to art therapy itself nor a report of art therapeutic practice, but assistance for art therapists to gain an insight in reading and inspecting the client for an art therapy.
