미술의 치료적 기능에 관한 탐색적 고찰 : 지각적 경험에 관한 논의를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 미술치료에서 미술이 어떤 치료적 기능을 수행하는지에 대해 지각적 경험에 대한 논의를 중심으로 고찰하였다.그 동안 미술치료에서 학문적 논의는 주로 미술치료의 효과를 검증하는데 집중되었다.이에 반해 미술치료에서 미술의 어떤 특성이 치료적 효과를 발휘하는지에 대한 연구와 논의는 부족한 실정이다.미술의 치료적 기능에 대한 논의는 미술이 지니고 있는 가능성에 관한 실제적인 자료를 제공함으로써 미술치료 이론의 발전에 크게 기여하고 또한 다른 유형의 심리치료 이론들과의 차별성을 드러내도록 함으로써 미술치료의 학문적 정체성을 강화하는 데 크게 기여할 것이다.이를 위해 본 연구는 지각적 경험의 개념과 주요 특성을 미술치료의 관점에서 고찰하고,이를 기초로 미술의 치료적 기능을 분석하였다.본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다:지각적 경험은 외부의 대상을 사실적으로 기록하는 수동적 과정이 아니라,능동적으로 구성하는 매우 지능적인 과정으로, 포괄적 의미에서 이해되는 지각의 개념으로 규정될 수 있다.그리고 미술은 에너지를 제공하여 활성화하는 기능을 수행하고,마음의 무의식적 측면에 용이하게 접근하도록 하고,유연하고 개방적인 사고와 행동을 통해 자신의 삶을 더욱 주도적으로 이끌어갈 수 있도록 하고 그리고 자기와의 창조적 만남을 통해 자신의 문제를 더욱 효과적으로 대처할 수 있도록 하는 기능을 수행하는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on issues related to perceptive experiences to specify what kinds of therapeutic roles art plays in art therapy. Academic discussions in art therapy, sofar, have been limited to verifying the effectiveness of art therapy while ignoring to examine art's specific therapeutic roles. Therefore, discussing the art's therapeutic roles will not only develop the theory of art therapy itself by providing tangible data to prove the potentials of art but also strengthen its scholarly identity by differentiating it from other theories of psychological therapies. Forthis, the paper will analyze art's therapeutic functions by study ingmajor concepts and characteristics of perceptive experiences from art therapeutic perspectives. The conclusions ofthe study will be the followings: perceptive experiences are not a passive process that factually records outside objects but a highly active and intelligentone, which can be defined as parts of general-accepted perception and art has been proven to activate one by providing energy, allow an easy approach toone's unconsciousness, help one lead one's life more independently through open and flexible thoughts and behaviors and consider and react to problems more efficiently by being more creative.
