국제이해교육, 세계시민교육, 다문화교육의 개념적 관계에 대한 질적 연구 : 국제교육개발협력 측면을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 국제교육개발협력 분야에서 중요한 이슈로 다뤄지는 세 가지 교육(국제이해교육, 세계시민교육, 다문화교육)의 개념적 관계를 국내의 선행연구를 통해 파악해 보는 것이다. 세 가지 교육 은 국제교육개발협력의 주된 교육영역들로서 그들 간 유사한 맥락과 중복성에 대한 논의는 꾸준히 언급 되어 왔다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 지금까지 국내에서 수행된 유관선행연구들을 선별하고 이 들을 대상으로 질적내용분석(Qualitative Content Analysis)을 수행하였다. 연구 결과, 이는 4가지 유형으로 구분되었다. 첫째, 세 교육을 상호간에 위계적 포함 관계로 해석하는 유형으로 국제이해교육과 세계시민교육이 각각 상위의 교육개념으로 설명된 바 있다. 둘째, 세 교육의 학문적 유사성과 혼란을 드러내 해석하는 유형으로 선행연구에 따라 그 정도를 달리 표현하고 있다. 셋 째, 각 교육을 독립적이고 주체적인 개념으로 해석하는 유형으로 상기 유형에 해당하는 선행연구들은 국 제교육개발협력이라는 거시적 주제로 접근하여 수행한 특징이 있다. 넷째, 세 교육을 교육명칭의 변천과 정으로 해석하는 유형으로 국제개발협력의 추세 및 방향에 따라 개발교육의 명칭이 변화 발전한 것으로 설명하고 있다. 결과적으로 국내학계에서는 선행연구마다 세 가지 교육 간에 개념적 관계를 조금씩 달리 설명하고 있 었으며 따라서 이들 간 개념적 관계를 하나의 부등식으로 나타내기엔 한계가 존재하고 있었다. 이러한 연구결과에 따라 국내학계와 국제교육개발협력 분야가 나아가야 할 몇 가지 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the conceptual relations between three important types of education issues in Educational Development Cooperation(:EDC), which are Education for International Understanding(:EIU), Global Citizenship Education(:GCED), and Intercultural Education(:ICE). To accomplish it, this study conducted the qualitative content analysis based on selected relevant studies previously conducted in Korea. As a result, it was classified into four patterns. First pattern described that three educations had a hierarchical inclusive relations. Especially, EIU and GCED were appeared as an upper concept. Second pattern reveals academic similarities and confusions between three educations. However, the degree of emphasis on the similarities of three educations varies from study to study. Third pattern accounts for each education as an independent and quite important subjective. The research topic of this pattern was approaching as a macro level of EDC. Fourth pattern described that the name of education changed and developed according to the direction of EDC. Thus, three educations are the outcomes of the transition process in development education. Accordingly, previous researches in the Korean academia showed the conceptual relations of the three educations in a little different way, and there is a limitation to show the conceptual relation among the three educations just as one model. Based on the results, some implications for the field of Korean academia and international EDC were suggested for further studies.
