영문 초록

It is known that psychological status of the patients undergoing operation were different individually, and many factors, such as the social background, the age, the educational background, the religion, past operative history, and the operative type are significant to the anxiety level of operative patients. The authors had examined 70 operative patients(35 males, 35 females) hospitalized in Chonnam University Hospital from the 18th of September to the 8th o f October 1991 with the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAl) for evaluating the characteristics related to anxiety in operation. The results were as follows : 1) There was a significant difference ( F = 4.87, p〈.01) according to religious belief of patient 2) According to the severity of illness reported by patients, there was significant difference in preoperative state anxiety(F=3.06, p<.05) but others were not 3) There was significant correlation between the postoperative anxiety and the satisfaction of patient 4) There was no difference in anxiety according to the age, the sex, the educational level, the personal and the family operational history, tumor vs. non tumor group, and the operation time. It was indentifled that some levels of anxiety were normal reactions in arising from operations， and the predictable factors of operation anxiety are the religion and subjective cognitive factors of patient
