국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 싱가포르 음악 교육에서 실천하고 있는 국가교육(National Education)의 내용과 방법을 이해하는 것이다. 연구의 내용은 싱가포르의 국가교육과 국가교육노래(National Education Songs)의 의미를 문헌을 통해 이해하고, 초등학교 1~6학년 음악 교과서에 나타나는 국가교육노래의 가사와 학습 내용을 분석하는 것이다. 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 싱가포르는 국가교육노래(NE Songs)를 지정하고, 음악 교과서에 그것들을 필수 악곡으로 싣고 있다. 둘째, 국가교육노래는 국가노래(National Songs)와 민요와공동체노래(Folk and Community Songs)로 구분하며, 교육부가 체계적으로 관리하고 있다. 셋째, 국가교육노래의 학습 내용은 국가적 내용과 함께 음악적 내용이 제시되고 있다. 이 연구 결과는 우리나라 음악 교육에 다음과 같은 내용을 시사한다. 첫째, 싱가포르의 국가교육노래의 지정과 실천은 우리 음악교과서의 공통 악곡 지정에 관심을 가지게 한다. 둘째, 싱가포르의 음악 교과서에서 국가교육노래와 관련된 학습 내용을 제시하는 방식은 우리나라 음악 교과서의 학습 내용을 다양화하는 데 의미있는 아이디어를 준다. 셋째, 교육은 그 나라의 정치 체제와 밀접한 관련이 있는 만큼 한 국가의 음악 교육에 관한 연구가 사회와 정치적 배경과 관련하여 진행해야 함을 인식하게 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand the contents and methods of National Education that appears in Singapore music education. The contents of the study include understanding the meaning of National Education and national education Songs of Singapore through references and analyzing the lyrics and learning contents of National Education Songs that appears in elementary music textbooks. The results of the study are as follows. First, Singapore specifies the National Educations Songs (NE Songs), and makes an essential piece of music put them in the music textbooks. Second, National Educations Songs are divided into National Songs and Folk and community Songs and managed systematically by the Ministry of Education. Third, there are musical contents including national contents in learning contents of National Educations Songs. This results implies to Korean music education as follows. First, specifying and practicing of Singapore National Educations Songs makes us interested in common songs of Korean music textbooks. Second, the way that the learning contents concerned with National Educations Songs are suggested on Singapore music textbooks, inspires us to make various learning contents of Korean music textbooks. Third, so education if closely related to political structure fo the country, that the research on music education of the country has to be progressed with the study of social and political backgrounds of the country.
