영문 초록

The author studied 54 veterans with chronic psychiatric disability after head trauma, who were Neuro-Psychiatric dept, of Korean Veterans Hospital from Mar. 1, 1980 to Dec. 31，1981. The results were as follows： 1. In terms of psychiatric disability, the posttraumatic epilepsy was must frequent and they were accounted for 40.74%. 2. The heighest rate was seen in the 5th decade (27. 78%) in age distribution. 3. Elementary school graduates (33.33%) were most frequent and the most of them had no religion (74.07%). 4. Their socio-economic status was low and middle class in large part and most of subjects was unemployed (62.96%). 5. The 59.26% of the subjects were married. 6. The explosive accidents were the major cause (41.15%) of head traumas. 7. Most of subjects showed skull defective condition due to skull fracture and operation and metal foreign body in soft tissue and scalp in X-ray findings (31.48%). 8. Electroncephalography was abnormal in 40.74%, 9. In terms of the premorbid personality, the passive-aggressive personality was 18.52%, explosive personality was 16.67%. 10. 33.33% of the subject reported that their first attacks following head trauma were after 10. years. 11 . Most frequent psychiatric symptoms were headache or dizziness in 45cases, memory impairment in 21 cases, and sleep disturbance in 15 cases.
