영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the MMPI responses in the deaf and schizophrenic groups. The sample consisted of 48 deaf students (25 males, 23 females) 64 schizophrenics (33 males, 31 females), and 74 controls (37 males, 37 females). The deaf students who used manual language were in the 12th grade at the National Deaf-and-Dumb School. The control group of the same grade had no hearing loss or mental disorders. The results were as follows ； 1) The mean of T-scores on each scale was within normal range in all groups, but generally the scores of all scales in the deaf group and schizophrenic group were higher than the control group. 2) The deaf group showed F6891 profile and more specifically male deaf F6819, female deaf F6981. The schizophrenic group showed F8649 profile and male schizophrenics F8613, female schizophrenics F8694. 3) The validity scales such as L (p<.01) and F (p<.01) revealed significant differences among the three groups. 4) The neurotic scales such as Hs (p < .0 l), D (p<.01) and Hy (p〈.01) also revealed significant differences among the three groups. 5) The personality scales such as Pd (p〈.01) and Mf (p〈.01) revealed significant differences among the three groups. 6) The psychotic scales such as Pa (p〈.01), Pt (p〈.01), Sc (p〈.01), and Ma (p〈.01) revealed significant differences among the three groups. 7) Si scale (p<.01) showed a significant difference among the three groups.
