영문 초록

Psychotherapy using psychoanalytic or traditional psychotherapeutic approach seems to be less suitable for Asian-Americans due to their different expectations in treatment. This is due to the different cultural background of Asian-Americans because psychoanalysis and traditional psychotherapy originated and developed from the Western cultural background. The characteridtics of Asian-Americans are their passivity and preference to symptom removal rather than working on their intrapsychic process. Some of the hypnotic framework, such as pacing, strategic, indirect, directive and positive approach seem to be more suitable for Asian-Americans rather than psychoanalysis or traditional psychotherapy.
