영문 초록

The author studied 51 Korean bipolar affective disorder patients who had been admitted to the Psychiatric departments of general hospitals and local psychiatric clinics located in Taegu from January, 1988 to August, 1988. The object of this study was to determine if HLA has genetic marker value to the susceptibility of the bipolar affective disorder. All of the 51 patients had a history of bipolar affective disorder over 2 years and the diagnosis was confirmed by Research Diagnostic Criteria(RDC). According to the Family History-RDC, the patients were subdivided into two family history groups. One group was with family history (14 patients) and the other was without family history (37 patients). The normal control group was composed of healthy medical school students (196 individuals for HLA-A, B, C and 205 individuals for HLA-DR). All the subjects were typed for HLA by Terasaki method at the Biomedical Research Laboratory, Kyungpook National University. Test results of the groups were compared by specific statistical method for HLA of Nam and Gart, and the significance was corrected by multiplying the number of test antigens (45) to the p-value.
