국문 초록

the wolf motif has been changed in terms of the symbol and meaning according to the history of turkic literatures. according to the myth of the kok turk which is the ancient turkic state, a wolf is the turkic ancestor. however, in the epic of oghuz kagan, a wolf appears as not only guide but also protector. besides this, in turkic literatures which belongs to the middle age, a wolf is also represented as brave hero of warrior. in fact a wolf is a fefocious beast which attacks the livestock in eurasian steppe. on the other hand, in a prayer song of the turkic shaman in central asia and siberia, the wolf motif is symbolized as a lord of shaman as well as a servant of the tengri who is a god of the nomadic peoples. a wolf represents various characteristic features in different turkic tales and proverbs; opportunist and strong, ferocious, aggressive person, etc. in conclusion, the wolf motif which represents the turkic people often appears as a mythological animal both in historical and modern turkic literatures, not only in turkey but also in central asia. actually, we can encounter the wolf motif in turkic culture as well as turkic literatures in the vast area of eurasia.
