국문 초록

이 논문은 예이츠와 포프가 『창문 위에 쓰인 말』과 「머리카락의 유린」에서 실존 인물을 어떻게 작품화하는지 연구한다. 이 두 작가의 장르는 다르지만, 둘 다 이야기를 극화하는 동일한 접근을 시도한다. 포프는 시를 쓰지만 극적 요소가 있는 서사시를 쓰고, 예이츠는 극을 쓰지만 힘찬 시를 포함하여 극 자체를 시적으로 만든다. 이 작가는 또한 독자들의 혼과 귀신에 대한 생각을 활용하여 자신들의 작품이 신비롭고 환상적이게 보이게 한다. 이 논문은 실재하는 사람들의 이야기를 극화하기 위하여 초자연적 요소들을 어떻게 활용하는 지를 비교하게 된다.

영문 초록

The paper compares how Yeats and Pope in their works, The Words Upon the Window-pane and “The Rape of the Lock,” treat real people. Though the genres are different, they both have a similar approach to dramatizing the stories. Pope’s is a narrative poem with qualities of drama, and Yeats’s is a play, which includes powerful poems, rendering the whole play poetic. These two writers, in addition, rely on readers’ preconceptions of spirits and ghosts, making their works even more mysterious and fantastic. This paper discusses how both writers use the elements of the supernatural to dramatize the stories of real people for literary creation.
