웅진기 백제토기의 변화양상과 배경 - 공주 공산성 출토 토기를 중심으로

국문 초록

본고에서는 공주 공산성에서 출토된 백제시대 토기를 중심으로검토해 봄으로써 백제 한성기에서 웅진기 그리고 사비기로 이어지는 변화 과정 속에서 웅진기 백제토기의 특징과 그 변화 양상을살펴보고자 하였다. 백제는 공주로 천도함으로써 내려온 왕실, 그리고 천도에 도움을준 세력과 기존의 마한 재지세력 등 지배층의 폭이 확대되었다. 이러한 정치·사회적 상황 속에서 웅진기 백제토기는 한성기 토기 기종인 삼족기, 고배, 완류, 기대, 직구호 등을 계승하면서도 형태적 변화가 확인된다. 웅진기 백제토기는 형태적으로는 중국 자기가 직접적인 모방과 영향을 끼침으로써 저부의 평저화와 굽달린 기종이 등장하고, 완류와 병류가 발달한다. 완류에서는 개배와 대부완이 제작되는데 이는 중국의 금속기나 자기를 모방하여 만들어진 것이다. 기대는 장식이 화려해지고, 직구호와 단경호에 새로운 양식이 추가되거나 하는 등의 변화도 나타난다. 그리고 병류와 토제 벼루로 다수 출토 점도주목된다. 이러한 배경에는 웅진 천도에 따른 새로운 체제를 마련하고 왕실을 안정화 시키기 위한 작업이 이루어진 것이며, 그 과정에서 중국의 정치사회제도를 부분적으로 많이 수용하였다. 이러한 문화의유입은 웅진기 백제토기에도 영향을 미칠 수 밖에 없었던 것으로 보인다. 백제는 이른 시기부터 중국과의 교섭을 통해 다양한 물질 문화가 유입되었다. 특히 백제토기와 배식기의 변화는 중국적 도성 생활양식에 많은 영향을 받으면서 새로운 양식을 재구성해 나갔다. 따라서 백제는 주로 대 중국간 교류를 통해서 많은 물질문화를 개방적으로 유입시켜왔고, 백제만의 문화를 형성시켰다고 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

In this paper, we examine the characteristics and changes of Baekje pottery from the Ungjin period, as well as the Baekje Hansung period and Ungjin period, by focusing on the pottery excavated from Gongsanseong Fortress in Gongju. The Ungjin period saw the emergence of a new royal family by moving the capital to Gongju. In other words, the ruling class expanded, including the forces that helped with the move and the existing local forces of Mahan. Externally, the exchanges expanded to include not only China but also Wa and Gaya, with East Asia as the stage. In this political and social situation, Ungjin period Baekje pottery inherited the Hansung period pottery types such as Samjokgi, Gobae, Wanryu, Gidan, and Jikguho, but also changed in form. Among the Wanryu, Gaebae and Daebuwan were also produced, which were made by imitating Chinese metalware or porcelain. In addition, new types of bottles were developed and many earthenware inkstones were excavated. Therefore, during the Ungjin period of Baekje, Chinese porcelain directly imitated and influenced the flat-bottomed and curved vessels, and the development of the round and flat vessels. In other words, the Ungjin period can be seen as having been directly influenced and imitated by Chinese porcelain, metal vessels, and lacquerware. In addition, the decoration of the base became more elaborate, inkstones developed, and new styles were added to the straight-cut and short-cut vessels. Against this backdrop, efforts were made to establish a new system and stabilize the royal family following the relocation of the capital to Ungjin. In the process, many aspects of China’s political and social system were partially accepted, and this seems to have had an impact on the Ungjin period Baekje pottery. Baekje had various material cultures introduced through early interactions with China. In particular, the changes in Baekje pottery and distribution vessels were greatly influenced by the Chinese urban lifestyle, and reconstructed new styles. In other words, Baekje was able to openly introduce a lot of material culture mainly through exchanges with China, and it can be seen that it formed its own culture.
