국문 초록

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to examine the relations between the ‘Renying and Qikou pulse diagnosis(人迎氣口脉診法)’ and the Chong Vessel(衝脉), and to investigate the background of the pulse taking positions wherein the changes are detected and compared between the ‘ST9 and LU9(Upper and Lower perspective)’ and ‘Left-Renying and Right-Qikou(Left and Right perspective)’. In addition, treatment in acupuncture/moxibustion and herbal prescriptions were studied in relation to the pulse diagnosis methods. Methods : Several medical texts and papers were examined from the ancient to modern periods for this study. The Chong Vessel is associated with Source Qi(原氣), which provides Source Qi in Yangming(陽明), and in Yangming, generates Nutrient Qi(營氣), Defense Qi(衛氣), and Ancestral Qi(宗氣). Due to the Lung(肺)’s function that balances Nutrient Qi, Defense Qi and Ancestral Qi, the balance between Yin(陰) and Yang(陽) is accomplished, and the Chong Vessel harmonizes this progress. ‘Renying and Qikou pulse diagnosis’ is a method to check the balance between Yin and Yang by comparing the Renying Pulse(人迎脉) and Qikou Pulse(氣口脉). Results & Conclusions : There are two perspectives to ‘Renying and Qikou pulse diagnosis’, of which one is ‘ST9 and LU9(Upper and Lower perspective)’ and the other is ‘Left-Renying and Right-Qikou(Left and Right perspective)’. ‘ST9 and LU9(Upper and Lower perspective)’ could be assumed as a tool for acupuncture, whereas ‘Left-Renying and Right-Qikou(Left and Right perspective)’ could be assumed as a tool to apply herbal medicine. These two diagnostic methods are common ways to check the condition of Yang and Exterior(表) through the Renying pulse, and Yin and Interior(裏) through the Qikou pulse.
