국문 초록

미군정기 의생 제도는 일제에 의한 의생 제도와 정부수립 이후 한의사 제도 사이에 존재했던 한의학 관련 면허 제도였다. 본고를 통해 미군정기 의생 관련된 새롭게 발굴된 자료를 보고 소개하였고, 이를 분석하여 논의를 전개하였다. 그 과정에서 다음과 같은 사실을 새롭게 밝혔다. 첫째, 군정기 한의학 관련 면허의 정식 명칭은 ‘醫生’이다. 둘째, 군정기 의생면허는 군정청에 의하여 공인된 면허였다. 미군정기 의생 제도는 일제강점기 제도를 답습하였지만, 그와 다른 제도적 개선의 움직임도 포착된다고 평할 수 있다. 물론 당시 한의계의 재기를 위한 여러 움직임이 활발하지 않았음도 주지의 사실이다. 또한 의생 양성에 대한 별도의 규정은 미군정기 보건법령에서도 없고, 의생이란 명칭에서 알 수 있듯, 미군정기에 한의와 양의가 동등한 이원제라 보기는 어렵다.

영문 초록

The Uisaeng system as used during the US military regime was a Korean Medicine licensing system that existed after the Uisaeng system under Japanese colonial rule and before the Korean Medicine system establishment by the government of South Korea. Through this paper, newly discovered materials related to Uisaeng during the US military regime were viewed and introduced, analyzed, and discussions were developed. The folowing new facts were revealed. 1. The official name of the license related to Korean Medicine during the US military regime is Uisaeng. 2. The Uisaeng license during the US military regime was a license authorized by the military government office. Although the Uisaeng system of the US military regime followed the system of the Japanese colonial period, it can be said that other movements for institutional improvement are also captured. It is also a well-known fact that many movements for the revival of the Korean Medicine world were not active at the time.
