국문 초록

본 고에서는 Freudenthal의 비 개념에 대한 주해를 시도한다. 그가 말하는 비 개념의 주요 교수 현상학적 측면은 세 가지이다. 첫째, 비 개념은 두 수 혹은 크기 값이 결합한 순서쌍으로부터 출발하며, 둘째, 순서쌍의 집합인 비 집합 안에서 동치 관계를 규정하는 과정에서 비 개념의 진정한 의미가 드러나고, 셋째, 동치류를 대표하는 수(혹은 크기 값)를 찾아 함숫값으로 사상함으로써 비 개념이 ‘동치 관계’에서 ‘함수’로 확장된다는 점이다. 이를 관계-비, 내포량-비의 두 관점으로 나누어 논의하고 그가 상술하지 않았던 비 개념의 발생적 기원과 형성 과정에 대해 부연할 것이다.

영문 초록

In this paper, I provide an explanatory commentary on Freudenthal’s statements about the concept of ratio. He points out three phenomenological aspects of the ratio concept. First, a ratio concept originates with ordered pairs of numbers (or magnitude values). Second, the authentic meaning of the ratio concept is revealed in the process of defining equivalence relations in the set of the ordered pairs. Third, the concept is expanded from ‘equivalence relationship’ to ‘function’ by finding a number representing each equivalence class and mapping it to a function value. Based on those, I will explore the generative origin and formation process of the ratio concept, which he did not provide in detail, by discussing it from two perspectives: relation-ratio and quantity-ratio.
