삼국 이야기 속 赤壁大戰 서사의 변용 양상

국문 초록

삼국 이야기는 동아시아 사회에 매우 친숙한 서사로서, 그 가운데 특히 적벽대전 이야기는 한국에서 판소리로도 만들어질 만큼 삼국지 서사를 대표하는 사건이다. 이에 본문은 시대에 따라 변화한 삼국지 적벽대전 서사의 구조적 변화와 양상을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 이러한 변화 과정을 분석하기 위해 두 종의 역사서와 두 종의 소설 작품을 비교 분석하였다. 역사서와 소설 작품에 묘사된 ‘赤壁大戰’ 서사를 비교 분석한 결과, 진수의 정사 《三國志》에서는 동일한 역사적 사건임에도 불구하고 魏書와 吳書, 蜀書의 기록이 다소 차이가 있음을 발견하였으며, 아울러 후에 만들어진 소설 작품들에 비해 상대적으로 건조한 평면적인 서사 구조를 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이에 반하여 소설 작품에 묘사된 ‘赤壁大戰’의 서사 구조는 작가의 상상력과 시대상의 융합을 통해 풍부한 입체적인 서사 구조를 보여주고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 역사서의 기록과 비교해 볼 때, 소설 작품에서는 신격화와 폄하 등의 과정을 통해 ‘赤壁大戰’ 서사의 인물들에게 다양하고 새로운 개성이 부여되었다. 아울러 서사의 시각적 효과를 위하여 전투의 부차적 요소였던 ‘火攻’이라는 서사 장치에 시각적, 청각적 표현이 동원됨으로 인해 풍부하고 입체적인 표현으로 독자들에게 다채로운 감상을 제공하고 있음을 발견하였다. 그리하여 실제 역사 기록 속 ‘官渡大戰’에 비해 비중이 높지 않았던 ‘赤壁大戰’은 다양한 소설 작품에서 과장되고 화려하게 묘사되는 서사의 변용 과정을 거치게 되었고 결국 삼국 이야기를 대표하는 스펙터클 서사로 자리잡게 되었다.

영문 초록

The story of the Three Kingdoms is a familiar one in our lives, with many different characters and events that make up the narrative. The most familiar narrative of the Battle of Red Cliffs to people began with a history book, Since then, it has been transformed into works such as The Popular Stories of the Three Kingdoms and Romance of the three kingdoms and has emerged as a creative material. Therefore, the text focused on the structural changes and aspects of the Battle of Red Cliffs narrative in the Three Kingdoms story that have changed with the times. To analyze this process of change, we looked at the historical books The History of the Three Kingdoms, Comprehensive Mirror to Aid in Government and the literary works The Popular Stories of the Three Kingdoms, Romance of the three kingdoms. First of all, the Battle of Red Cliffs in history books has a relatively flat narrative structure compared to literary works with hyperbole and multiple narratives. In The History of the Three Kingdoms, ‘Wu Shu(吴书)’is the most active in expressing the Battle of Red Cliffs, while in ‘Wei Shu(魏书)’, it is reduced and passive because it was a defeated war. In addition, in Comprehensive Mirror to Aid in Government, it was found that the emotional part and record of the character were more detailed than the The History of the Three Kingdoms of Chen shou. Second. The narrative structure of the Battle of Red Cliffs in literary works shows a three-dimensional narrative structure that is rich in narrative through the fusion of the author’s imagination and the era. In The Popular Stories of the Three Kingdoms the characters of the Battle of Red Cliffs narrative are given new personalities, and the characters of ‘Huo Gong(火攻)’ and Zhuge Liang begin to be emphasized. Since then, in Romance of the three kingdoms, Zhuge Liang has been deified, and Zhou Yu has been denigrated. In addition, the author’s imagination combined with the narrative of the Battle of Red Cliffs, and the narrative of ‘Huo Gong(火攻)’ emerged as a visual, auditory, and sensory expression, which is a rich and three-dimensional expression, providing readers with a colorful spectacle. The narrative of the Battle of Red Cliffs in the Three Kingdoms story was only a historical record of the time, but as it was later reimagined as a literary work, the expression of characters and events changed, reflecting the creator’s intentions and the times. In the end, it is still used as a fixed narrative of Battle of Red Cliffs even in modern times.
