국문 초록

2023년 유럽문화수도 티미쇼아라(TM 2023)는 루마니아와 유럽의 문화와 역사적 기준을 대표하는 도시로서 수 세기에 걸쳐 이곳에 살았던 다양한 민족과 문화 공동체의 역사적 다양성을 함의하고 있다. 1884년 중동부 유럽 최초로 가스등이 설치되고, 1989년 루마니아 혁명의 진원지가 된 티미쇼아라는 ‘당신을 통해 도시를 밝히십시오!’라는 표어로 빛의 도시를 표방한다. 이 빛은 다양한 민족 유산의 혁신이지만 동시에 자유와 민주주의를 위한 투쟁의 유산이기도 하다. 티미쇼아라는 문화유산에 관한 관심뿐만 아니라 도시 및 인프라 개발을 촉진하는 다양한 문화 행사와 특별한 프로젝트를 통해 문화적 정체성을 홍보하였다. TM 2023은 지속 가능한 지역 사회 발전을 위한 엔진으로써 티미쇼아라의 정체성, 다양성, 창의성 및 문화적 잠재력 향상에 적극적으로 이바지하는 문화 프로그램을 마련하였다. TM 2023의 주요 프로그램은 3개의 주요 영역(시민, 장소, 연결)과 역량 구축을 구현하는 하나의 보완 영역(발전소)으로 구성되어 있다. 각 영역에는 다양한 문화 행사를 주최하는 특정 ‘정거장’과 ‘노선’이 세부 프로그램으로 있는데, 이는 모든 영역이 유기적으로 연계되는 변혁적 여정을 구성한다. 행사의 준비와 성공적인 개최는 전통문화의 보존과 도시의 미학적 측면 외에도 경제발전과 관광 수익의 증대에도 기여하였으며, 국제적 인지도 강화는 물론 지속 가능한 도시 재생의 부가가치를 창출하고 있다.

영문 초록

Timisoara, the European Capital of Culture 2023, is a city that represents the cultural and historical standards of Romania and Europe, implying the historical diversity of the various ethnic and cultural communities that have lived here for centuries. Timisoara is not only the city where gas lights were installed for the first time in Central and Eastern Europe in 1884, but also the epicenter of the Romanian Revolution in 1989, promoting itself as a city of light with the motto ‘Shine your light-Light up your city! (Luminează oraşul prin tine!)’ This light represents the innovation of diverse national heritage, but also the legacy of the struggle for freedom and democracy. Timisoara has demonstrated its unique cultural identity through various cultural events and special projects that promote urban and infrastructure development, as well as interest in cultural heritage. Timisoara 2023 (TM 2023) has established a cultural program that actively contributes to enhancing Timisoara’s identity, diversity, creativity and cultural potential as an engine for sustainable community development. The main program of TM 2023 consists of three main areas (People, Places, Connections) and one complementary area (Power Station) that implements capacity building. Each major area has a detailed program of specific ‘stations’ and ‘trails’ that host various cultural events, forming a transformative journey in which all areas are organically linked. The preparation and successful hosting of the event not only contributed to the preservation of traditional culture and the aesthetic aspects of the city, but also contributed to the economic development and increased tourism revenue, strengthening international recognition and creating added value in sustainable urban regeneration.
