국문 초록

본 연구는 어니스트 헤밍웨이의 『노인과 바다』를 디지털 시대의 관점에서 재해석하여 고전 문학 작품이 현대 사회의 복잡한 문제들을 이해하고 해결하는 데 여전히 중요한 통찰을 제공할 수 있음을 보여준다. 산티아고의 고독한 투쟁, 자연과의 관계, 그리고 마놀린과의 세대 간 소통은 디지털 시대의 맥락에서 새로운 의미를 갖게 된다. 연구 결과, 디지털 시대의 고독,‘큰 물고기’의 현대적 의미, 세대 간 소통의 중요성, 그리고 자연과 인간의 관계에 대한 새로운 통찰이 도출되었다. 이를 통해 『노인과 바다』가 디지털 시대에도 여전히 강력한 메시지를 전달하고 있음을 확인하였으며, 기술과 인간성, 연결과 고독, 진보와 전통 사이의 균형을 찾아야 한다는 중요한 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study reinterprets Ernest Hemingway's “The Old Man and the Sea” from the perspective of the digital age, demonstrating that classic literary works can still provide important insights into understanding and solving complex problems in modern society. Santiago's solitary struggle, his relationship with nature, and intergenerational communication with Manolin take on new meanings in the context of the digital age. The research findings reveal new insights into loneliness in the digital era, the modern meaning of the 'big fish', the importance of intergenerational communication, and the relationship between humans and nature. Through this, it is confirmed that “The Old Man and the Sea” still conveys a powerful message in the digital age, providing important implications for finding a balance between technology and humanity, connection and solitude, progress and tradition.
