국문 초록

Purpose : This study aimed to investigate the correlation between knowledge and attitudes toward the elderly among nursing students at one university. Method : The study included 134 subjects who participated in a Google Survey conducted from November 20 to December 1, 2023. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe tests, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analyses with SPSS/WIN 21.0. Results : Significant differences in knowledge about the aged were observed based on the students' grade level (F＝4.24, p＝.007) and experience of living with the aged (t＝2.65, p＝.009). However, attitudes toward the elderly did not significantly differ based on the general characteristics of the subjects. There was a positive correlation between knowledge and attitudes toward the elderly (r＝.27, p ＝.002). Factors affecting knowledge about the elderly included grade (β ＝.21, p＝.011), experience of living with the aged (β ＝.24, p＝.004), and attitudes toward the elderly (β ＝.26, p＝.002), explaining 15.5% of the variance in knowledge. Conclusion : Based on these findings, universities should develop and implement educational programs aimed at improving nursing students' attitudes toward the elderly.
