국문 초록

COVID19 팬데믹, 러시아-우크라이나 전쟁, 이스라엘-팔레스타인 하마스 전쟁 등으로 야기된 글로벌 시장 불확실성은 무역비용의 상승으로 이어지고 있다. 이러한 비용 상승은 우리나라 경제에도 직접적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 본 연구에서는 해상운송 및 항공운송을 통한 무역비용 결정요인을 물류, 통관, GVC 참여 관점에서 분석하였다. 동시에 무역비용의 증감이 국가경쟁력에 미치는 영향도 확인하였다. 본 연구에서는 패널데이터의 오차항 이분산, 자기상관성 존재 가능성을 고려하여 Panel Corrected Standard Error(PCSE) 추정 방법을 적용하였다. PCSE 패널 분석 결과 해상운송과 항공운송을 통한 무역비용은 물류 효율성, 통관 원활화에 의해 감소하는 경향이 있었다. 하지만 GVC 전방 참여에 의한 비용 감소 효과는 해상운송을 통한 무역비용에서만 확인되었다. 그리고 무역비용의 감소는 운송 수단에 상관없이 국가경쟁력 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있었다. 본 연구에서 실증적으로 확인한 물류, 통관, GVC 참여 관련 무역비용 결정요인은 기업 차원의 재무 성과 향상과 함께 국가 경제 차원의 경쟁력 제고를 위한 전략 수립에 중요한 시사점을 제공할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Global market uncertainties caused by COVID19 pandemic, Russia-Ukraine war, Israel-Palestine Hamas war, and other conflicts are leading to an increase in trade costs. The Korean economy is also vulnerable to these uncertainties. This study examines the factors influencing trade costs in maritime and air transportation, focusing on logistics, customs, and GVC participation. Furthermore, we explore the impact of trade costs on national competitiveness. In this study, the Panel-Corrected Standard Error(PCSE) was applied, considering the possibility of heteroskedasticity and autocorrelation in the panel data. The PCSE panel analysis reveals that trade costs via maritime and air transportation tend to decrease due to logistics efficiency and customs facilitation. However, the reduction in trade costs through GVC forward participation is limited to maritime transportation costs Furthermore, the decrease in trade costs contributes to enhancing national competitiveness regardless of the mode of transportation. The empirical findings of logistics, customs, and GVC participation-related determinants can provide important insights for companies to improve financial performance at the firm level and formulate strategies for enhancing competitiveness at the national level.
