국문 초록

The English translation of political documents is an important part of the government’s external publicity and plays a vital role in the construction of national image. 2020-2023 is a crucial period to fight the epidemic, and Report on the Work of the Government and State of the Union address also made relevant work reports. This paper makes a comparative study of the English versions of Report on the Work of the Government from 2020 to 2023 and State of the Union address in the same period through a self-built corpus, aiming at analyzing the key words in the English versions of Report on the Work of the Government in recent four years and the key words related to the epidemic situation and their collocations, so as to improve the accuracy of the English translations of Chinese political documents and better establish the national image of China. It is found that both political documents are based on the people’s interests and put themselves in the people’s shoes, but there are still differences in language use and expression. In the future, we can expand the capacity of the corpus and make a comparative study of political documents in different countries from multiple angles and layers.

영문 초록

政治文献的英译是政府对外宣传的重要组成部分，对国家形象的建构起着至关重要的作用。2020-2023 年是抗击疫情的关键时期，《政府工作报告》和《国情咨文》也对此进行了相关工作汇报。本文通过自建语料库将2020-2023 年《政府工作报告》英译文与同时期美国的《国情咨文》进行对比研究，旨在分析近四年《政府工作报告》英译文中的主题词以及与疫情相关的主题词及其搭配，以期提高我国政治文献英译文的准确性，从而更好的树立中国国家形象。研究发现，两种政治文献都是从人民的利益出发，设身处地的为民众谋福利，但二者在语言使用以及表达上仍存在差异。未来可以扩大语料库的容量，从多角度、多层次出发对不同国家的政治文献进行对比研究。
