Akutagawa Ryunosuke , an important writer and novelist in the history of modern Japanese literature, has opened up new areas in the Japanese literary world with his unique artistic techniques and profound ideological content, especially in the creation of short stories, and has won wide acclaim. This paper aims to explore the unique characteristics of Akutagawa Ryunosuke’s literature through an in-depth study of his life and literary works, focusing on understanding the realism, beautiful writing and theme ideas in his works. Akutagawa’s works not only reflect the spirit of realism, but also reveal the complexity and diversity of human nature through refined words and profound emotional expression. His works such as “Rashomon” and “Hell Transformation” show the weaknesses of human nature and the ugliness of society through the detailed description of the changes in inner activities and the profound revelation of social reality, fully reflecting the realistic characteristics of Akutagawa’s literature. At the same time, Akutagawa’s writing is beautiful, elegant, and sophisticated, and is well received by readers and critics. Through the analysis of Akutagawa’s works, this paper helps readers to have a more comprehensive understanding of this literary giant and provide reference and reference for further literary research.
