국문 초록

본 연구는 <씨름의 희열>의 제작 특성을 분석해 실제 스포츠를 도입한 스포츠 예능 프로그램의 새로운 가능성을 탐색하고자 했다. 이를 위해2019년 11월 30일부터 2020년 2월 22일까지 방영된 <씨름의 희열>의전체 에피소드를 분석 대상으로 삼았다. 예능 프로그램과 스포츠 예능 프로그램의 특성을 이해하기 위해 기존 연구 및 관련 문헌을 검토했으며, <씨름의 희열>의 예능적 특성을 분석하기 위해 시의성, 서사성 및 공감 요소, 규칙성, 중계진의 역할, 볼거리 제공, 기술 요소를 분석 항목으로 설정했다. 분석 결과, <씨름의 희열>은 시의성 있는 소재의 발굴, 서사성 및 공감요소의 활용, 경기의 다양한 규칙 설정, 중계진의 역할, 볼거리 제공, 기술요소의 적극적 활용 등을 통해 시청자의 몰입을 유도하고, 프로그램의 재미를 강화했다. <씨름의 희열>은 전통 스포츠를 현대적 예능으로 변주함으로써 새로운 시청자층을 끌어들이고 씨름에 대한 관심을 환기시키는 데기여했다. 또한, 실제 씨름 경기의 연출 방식에 변화를 가져오는 등 문화콘텐츠로서의 영향력을 발휘했다. 본 연구는 <씨름의 희열>에 대한 분석을 통해 비인기 스포츠 예능의 가능성과 방향성을 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 전통 스포츠의 미디어 콘텐츠화 과정에서 스포츠적 묘미와 예능적 재미의 조화, 대중과의 소통 방식 등에 대한 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore the new potential of sports variety shows that incorporate real sports by analyzing the production characteristics of “The Joy of Ssireum”. To this end, all episodes of “The Joy of Ssireum”, which aired from November 30, 2019, to February 22, 2020, were analyzed. To understand the characteristics of variety shows and sports variety shows, existing research and relevant literature were reviewed, and the variety show characteristics of “The Joy of Ssireum” were analyzed through elements such as timeliness, narrative and empathy factors, regularity, the role of commentators, provision of visual spectacles, and technical elements. The analysis revealed that “The Joy of Ssireum” achieved viewer immersion and enhanced entertainment by utilizing timely topics, narrative and empathy factors, various game rules, the role of commentators, visual spectacles, and the active use of technical elements. “The Joy of Ssireum” attracted new audiences and rekindled interest in Ssireum by transforming traditional sports into a modern entertainment format. Additionally, it demonstrated cultural content influence by bringing changes to the production style of actual Ssireum matches. This study is significant as it suggests the potential and direction of non- mainstream sports variety shows through the analysis of “The Joy of Ssireum”. It provides insights into the harmonization of sports appeal and entertainment value, as well as communication methods with the public, in the process of transforming traditional sports into media content.
