국문 초록

본고는 교토대 소장 『金石集帖』에 수록된 광해군 시대 인물들의 비문에서 廢母論이 기술된 양상을 분석한다. 이를 통해 한 인물에 대한 기억이 문학을 통해 변화하고, 조작되고, 평가된 방식의 일단을 살핀다. 본고는 특히 광해군 집권기에 公論으로서 지지를 얻었던 폐모론이 인조반정 이후 악행으로 규정된 점에 주목한다. 첫째로 본고는 반정 이후의 비문이 정치 갈등의 희생자를 善人으로 현창하고 선악 구도를 명문화한 점에 주목하는 한편으로, 반대로 폐모론에 협력한 과오를 은폐 또는 변호한 방식을 추적함으로써 조선시대 비문의 서술 전략을 이해한다. 둘째로 본고는 폐모론에 저항한 일화를 상세히 立傳한 비문들이 『금석집첩』의 “節義” 항목에 편차된 점에 주목하여, 『금석집첩』 편찬자들의 비문 평가 기준을 유추한다.

영문 초록

This paper analyzes the recording of “P'yemoron” (The Dethronement of the Queen Dowager) in the epitaphs of literati from the Kwanghaegun era, preserved in the rubbing collection Kŭmsŏkchipch'ŏp at Kyoto University library. Based on the analysis, this paper observes how memories of people were altered, manipulated, and evaluated. Especially, this paper pays attention to how P'yemoron, which was supported by public opinion, was defined as an evil scheme after the Injo coup. First, this paper analyzes how the epitaphs after the coup portrayed victims of the political conflict as virtuous individuals and explores the ways in which the “faulty actions” of cooperating P'yemoron were concealed and justified. Second, this paper examines the narrative style of epitaphs categorized as “fidelity to principle” in Kŭmsŏkchipch'ŏp, speculating that the editors of Kŭmsŏkchipch'ŏp valued an epitaph as a detailed historical record that authenticates a person’s biography.
