국문 초록

2020년 기준 한국의 합계출산율은 0.84 정도로 출산율은 감소하는 추세에 있다. 오늘날 자녀의 출산은 내 집마련의 어려움, 높은 사교육비 등으로 인한 부담감으로 작용하여 자녀 출산은 의무가 아닌 선택 사항이 되고 있다. 본 연구는 출산 및 자녀의 수에 결정 요인을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 세 가지 가설을 설정한다. 첫 번째 가설은 ‘소득 수준이 자녀의 출산 및 자녀의 수에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다’이고, 두 번째 가설은 ‘주택 가격이 자녀의 출산 및 자녀의 수에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다’이며 세 번째 가설은 ‘군 지역이 시 지역보다 출산 및 자녀의 수에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다’이다. 자녀 출산과 관련해서는 선형확률모형, 프로빗 모형, 로짓 모형을 활용한다. 또한 자녀의 수와 관련해서는 순서화된 프로빗 모형과 순서화된 로짓 모형을 활용한다. 추정 결과, 자녀 출산과 관련해서는 가설 1과 가설 2가 채택되었고 자녀의 수와 관련해서는 모든 가설이 채택되었다.

영문 초록

As of 2020, the total fertility rate in Korea is 0.84, which is on the decline. Today, childbirth is becoming an option, not an obligation, as it acts as a burden due to difficulties in preparing a house and high private education costs. This paper aims to analyze the determinants of fertility and number of children. To this end, three hypotheses are established. The first hypothesis is that ‘Income level has a positive effect on fertility and number of children’, the second hypothesis is ‘House price has a positive effect on fertility and number of children’, and the third hypothesis is that is ‘Gun area has a more positive effect on fertility and number of children than city area’. To analyze the determinants of fertility, linear probability model, probit model, and logit model are used. Also, to look for the determinants of the number of children, an ordered probit model and an ordered logit model are used. As a result of the estimation, Hypothesis 1 and Hypothesis 2 were adopted with respect to childbirth, and all hypotheses regarding the number of children were accepted.
