국문 초록

본 연구는 유아와 물감이 얽혀 만들어 내는 상호작용과 의미에 주목하여 유아의 놀이를 다시 보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 유아와 놀이가 중심이 되는 교육과정을 만들기 위해서는 물질을 바라보는 기존의 도구적이고 발달적인 관점에서 벗어나 유아와 물질 간의 만남을 그대로 바라보는 시각이 필요하다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 유아와 물감이 만나 만들어 내는 모든 과정과 경험에 주목하여 놀이를 사유하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 D어린이집의 4세반에서 4개월간 참여관찰을 통해 자발적 물감 놀이가 발현되는 순간의 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 유아는 물감의 물질성과 운동성 자체에 집중하여 새롭게 만나고, 감각하고, 반복하고, 차이를 만들고, 조절하고, 소통하고, 관계를 맺었다. 이때 물감은 특정 용도나 활동을 위한 도구가 아닌 능동적이고 힘 있는 존재로 함께 하였다. 놀이의 주체인 유아, 물감, 교사는 서로 얽혀 매 순간 새롭게 흘러가는 놀이를 생성하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 기존 교실에 존재하는 성인의 제한, 전통적이고 구조적인 활동, 발달이나 배움의 결과, 인간중심 사고 등에 머물러 있지 않고, 물질과 유아 간의 자유로운 교류에 온전히 집중하여 놀이를 다시 볼 것을 제안한다. 새로운 관점에서 접근하는 놀이의 세계에서 발생하는 무한한 생성과 감응의 연속을 많은 유아와 교사들이 놓치지 않고 발견할 수 있기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to rethink children's play with paint. In order to create a curriculum that centers children and play, it is necessary to move away from traditional instrumental and developmental perspectives and look at the encounter between children and materials as it is. Therefore, this study aims to think about play by focusing on all the processes and experiences that are created when children and paint meet. This study collected and analyzed data on moments of spontaneous paint play by participant observation of a 4-year-old class at D Daycare Center for five months. The results showed that children encountered, felt, repeated, made a difference, controlled, communicated, and empathized with paint by focusing on the materiality and mobility of paint itself. Paint was not a tool for a specific purpose or activity, but an active and powerful presence. The playfulness of the children, the materials, and the teacher intertwined to create play that was renewed in every moment. The findings suggest a rethinking of play that focuses on the free exchange of children and materials rather than the adult constraints of the traditional classroom, traditional and structured activities, developmental or learning outcomes, and human-centered thinking. We hope that many children and teachers will find endless possibilities for creation and affection in a reconceptualized world of play.
