DMZ 접경지역의 장소성에 영향을 미치는 요인

국문 초록

장소성은 지리적 공간이 갖는 특별한 성격이나 특성으로 사람들의 방문을 유도하여 지역발전 및 경제 활성화에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인이 된다. 국내 관광과 경제 활성화를 위한 정책적 관심이 증가하는 상황에서, DMZ 지역이 가지고 있는 우수한 생태적 가치와 자연환경에 대한 보존을 위하여 지역이 지닌 장소성에 대한 연구는 중요하다. 이에 이 연구는 DMZ 접경지역의 지속가능한 관광을 위해 장소성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하여 정책적인 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구를 위하여 2023년 7월 20일부터 8월 20일까지 DMZ 방문경험자를 대상으로 현장조사와 온라인조사를 병행하여, 유효표본 207부의 조사자료를 실증분석에 활용하였다. 자료의 분석은 빈도분석, 신뢰도분석, 상관관계분석, 요인분석과 회귀분석을 시행하였다. 분석결과, 모든 요인이 DMZ 접경지역의 장소애착과 충성도에 유의한 양(+)의 관계가 나타났다. 특히 장소성 형성요인에서 활동적 요소가 장소애착에 영향력이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 장소정체성 요인에서 경제적가치와 생태⋅자연환경적가치가 다른 요소보다 장소애착에 더 높은 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 인적요소와 평화적가치는 충성도에 가장 높은 영향력을 나타내고 있다. 이 연구결과에 따르면 DMZ 접경지역에 대한 장소애착과 충성도를 높이기 위해서는 물리적요소보다 인적자원 육성에 대한 전략과 체험 활동 등의 강화방안이 중요하다고 볼 수 있다. 아울러 DMZ 접경지역의 생태⋅자연환경과 역사문화적 가치와 함께 경제적 가치를 높게 평가하고 있으므로 이를 고려한 정책과 장소성 강화를 위해 다양한 비물리적 계획도 함께 고려되어야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Sense of place is a special characteristic of geographical space that encourages people's visitation and thereby is an important factor influencing regional development and economic revitalization. With the growing interest in policies to promote domestic tourism and economic revitalization, it is important to examine the sense of place regarding the DMZ area, so its ecological value and natural environment can be better preserved. This study tried to provide policy implications by identifying factors influencing the sense of place regarding the DMZ area. The results revealed that all factors significantly influenced place attachment and loyalty regarding the DMZ area. In particular, among the sense of place formation factors, the activity factor had a high influence on place attachment. In addition, of the place identity factors, the economic value and the ecological and natural environmental value had higher impacts on place attachment than others. Lastly, the human factor and the peace value had the highest influences on DMZ loyalty. According to the study results, to increase place attachment and loyalty to the DMZ area, strategies for fostering human resources and strengthening experiential activities are more important than physical factors. In addition, economic value is highly rated alongside the ecological and natural environment value, historical value, and cultural value of the DMZ area, and this should be considered when establishing policies and various non-physical plans to strengthen the sense of place regarding the DMZ area.
