문화콘텐츠의 기능과 ‘사회콘텐츠’

국문 초록

문화콘텐츠는 용어의 태동과 더불어 자신의 개념을 충족해야 할 필요를 해결하기 위해 ‘인문콘텐츠’ 담론을 만들어왔다. ‘인문콘텐츠’는 문화콘텐츠연구의 핵심 담론이 되었다. 인문정보학, 문화산업과 인문학, 문화기술과 인문학, 문화원형과 디지털콘텐츠, 한류의 인문학적 해석, 인문콘텐츠 교육과 인력 양성, 인문학적 스토리텔링, 도시재생과 인문콘텐츠, 디지털인문학 등 방계 담론을 형성했다. 이들은 문화콘텐츠를 설명⋅기획⋅전망하는 중요한 핵심 개념으로 작동했다. 그러나 문화콘텐츠를 인문콘텐츠로 등치하는 과정에서 문화에 대한 근대 학문의 성과가 온전히 계승되지 못한 측면도 있다. 문화콘텐츠는 예술의 층위, 사회과학 층위의 문화, 학제적 층위의 대중예술/대중문화라는 개념과 범주를 계승하면서 또한 독창적 범주를 만들어 가야 한다. 이를 위해 문화콘텐츠는 ‘사회콘텐츠’ 담론을 형성해야 한다. 이를 위해 우선 문화콘텐츠의 기능을 확인해야 한다. 문화콘텐츠는 오락-유희 기능, 정보-지식 기능, 공동체 유지 기능, 문화유산 전승 기능 등을 담당한다. 사회콘텐츠는 문화콘텐츠를 관계 중심으로 사고하게 한다. 이는 문화콘텐츠가 대중문화와 달리 복수의 생산물이 플랫폼을 통한 매개, 동시적 매개, 양방향 유통, 가역적 향유의 특성을 갖기 때문에 가능하다. 사회콘텐츠는 주체-타자 담론을 형성한다. 그 중요한 기능 중 하나는 ‘돌봄’이다. <내일은 미스터트롯>, <아기상어>는 ‘돌봄콘텐츠’의 가능성을 보여주는 중요한 사례다. 돌봄콘텐츠는 ‘돌봄’ 행위가 갖는 윤리성, 사회성을 바탕으로 문화콘텐츠의 역할을 확장하는 중요한 개념이 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Since the introduction of the term, cultural contents have given rise to the discourse of ‘humanities contents,’ addressing the need to articulate their own concepts. This term has become a pivotal aspect in cultural contents studies, fostering interdisciplinary discussions such as humanities informatics, cultural industry and humanities, cultural technology and humanities, cultural archetypes and digital contents, humanistic interpretation of the Korean Wave, humanities education and human resource training, humanistic storytelling, urban regeneration and humanities contents, and digital humanities. These discourses serve as crucial core concepts for planning, explaining, and forecasting cultural contents. However, in the process of aligning cultural contents with humanities contents, the accomplishments of modern scholarship on culture have not been fully embraced. Cultural contents should inherit concepts and categories from art, culture in the social sciences, and popular art/popular culture in the interdisciplinary field, while also generating original categories. To achieve this, cultural contents should establish a discourse on ‘social content.’ To accomplish this, it is essential to first identify the functions of cultural contents, which encompass responsibilities for entertainment and play, information and knowledge, community maintenance, and the transmission of cultural heritage. Social content leads us to perceive cultural content as relationship-centered. This perception is possible because cultural content, unlike popular culture, is characterized by multiple productions mediated through platforms, simultaneous mediation, two-way distribution, and reversible enjoyment. Social contents constitute a subject-other discourse, with one of its vital functions being ‘care.’ Examples like Mr. Trot and Baby Shark highlight the potential of ‘caring content.’ This concept can be instrumental in expanding the role of cultural contents based on the ethics and sociality of ‘care’ acts.
