국문 초록

본 연구는 2017년부터 2021년까지 EU 시장에서 주요 친환경차 수출국인 일본, 중국, 독일, 미국을 대상으로 시장점유율 (MS), 수출유사성지수 (ESI), MSER-ESDR, 지역편향지수 (RO) 등을 분석하여 한국의 수출경쟁력을 UNCOMTRADE 데이터베이스의 HS 6단위 데이터를 기반으로 살펴보았다. 2017년부터 5년간 한국의 시장 점유율은 하락세를 보이며 2021년까지 EU 친환경차 시장에서 주요 경쟁국 중 최하위를 기록하였다. MSER-ESDR 모델에 따르면 한국은 중국, 독일, 미국에 비해 상대적으로 수출에 불리한 위치에 있는 반면 일본에 대해서는 절대적 수출 우위를 점하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 한국은 2021년 기준 EU 친환경차 시장에서 다른 국가에 비해 7.32의 가장 높은 RO 수치를 보인다. 그러나, 가장 높은 RO 수치에도 불구하고 2017년부터 2021년까지 한국은 중국, 독일, 미국에 비해 EU 친환경차 시장 점유율이 하락하고 있고, 수출 경쟁력 또한 약화되었다. 이러한 지표의 불일치는 한국이 EU 친환경차 시장에서의 경쟁력을 강화하기 위해선 혁신적이고 효율적인 시장별 전략을 수립해야 함을 강조한다.

영문 초록

This study assesses South Korea's export competitiveness in the EU green vehicle market relative to its major competitors (China, Germany, Japan and the U.S.) from 2017 to 2021 using market share (MS), export similarity index (ESI), market share expansion ratio -export similarity deepening ratio (MSER-ESDR), and regional orientation index (RO) based on HS 6-digit level data. The MSER-ESDR model results reveal that South Korea holds comparative export disadvantages against China, Germany, and the U.S., while maintaining an absolute export advantage over Japan. Despite the highest RO (7.32 in 2021), South Korea's EU green vehicle export competitiveness declined, as evident by its shrinking market shares and comparative export disadvantages. This underscores the need for innovative strategies both at the national and corporate levels to enhance South Korea's position in the EU green vehicle market.
