국문 초록

이 논문은 서귀 이기발의 <古謌詩>가 지닌 특징을 분석하고 그런 특징이 시경체 한시 창작의 역사에서 어떤 의의를 지니는지를 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이 논문은 먼저 서귀의 시론을 검토하였다. 서귀는 『시경』과 관련하여 다음과 같은 강렬한 시론을 견지하고 있었다. 첫째, 서귀는 『시경』의 시를 종주로 삼고 시의 風敎를 대단히 중시하였다. 둘째, 그런 입장에서 수사와 문예미에 대해 강한 거부감을 표하였다. 이백과 두보마저도 풍교의 입장에서 보면 문예미나 쫓은 시인이라 할 정도였다. 셋째, 서귀는 자신의 독특한 시론을 공담으로 두지 않고 부단한 창작 실천으로 이어갔다. 그런데 이러한 서귀의 시경체 한시 창작 실천은 당대인으로부터 해괴한 행위로 취급당하였다. 이러한 시론을 배경으로 창작된 것이 바로 서귀의 <고가시> 소재 한시 작품들이다. 서귀의 <고가시>에는 모두 11제의 작품이 수록되어 있다. 초사의 형식을 빈 작품도, 사언고시 작품도 있지만 대다수의 작품이 사언 위주로 연장체와 첩영체를 구사하고, 아울러 창작의 배경과 주제의식을 드러내는 서문이 부기되어 있는 전형적인 시경체 한시의 양식을 따르고 있었다. <고가시> 수록 작품의 특징은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 독립적인 의론산문이라 할 정도의 긴 서문을 통해 한시의 의미를 한층 더 깊게 하였다. 둘째, 시경체라는 형식적 특징을 원용하면서도 시어나 시구를 모방하여 전범을 재현하기보다는 자신의 新意 창출에 더욱 주력하였다. 셋째, 일반적으로 율시로 수창되었을 법한 내용을 시경체 형식의 한시에 담아냄으로써 시경체 한시 창작을 단순한 전범 재현이 아니라 일상의 영역으로까지 확대하였다. 이처럼 서귀의 시론과 <고가시>는 조선후기에 유행한 문예적 복고주의와는 결을 달리하는 또 다른 복고 실천으로서, 그 결과 시경체 한시 창작의 전통에 비추어볼 때 대단히 독특하고 이례적인 작품을 산생할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to analyze the characteristics of Seo Gwi Lee Gi-bal’s “Gogasi(古謌詩)” and examine the significance of these features in the history of creative works in the style of classical Korean poetry, known as “Shījīng(詩經) style poetry.” For this purpose, this paper first reviewed Seo Gwi's poetic discourse. Seo Gwi held the following strong poetic principles related to 『Shījīng(詩經)』. First, he took the poetry of 『Shījīng』 as his main text and focused on the highly valued the poetic teachings(風敎) within the poems. Second, from this perspective, he expressed strong aversion towards rhetoric and literary embellishments. Even prominent poets like Li Baek and Du Fu, from the standpoint of poetic teachings, could be considered poets who pursued literary embellishments. Third, Seo Gwi did not confine his unique poetic principles to theoretical discussions but continued his unwavering creative practice. However, such poetic practices by Seo Gwi in the style of classical Korean poetry were perceived as eccentric behavior by his contemporaries. Based on these poetic principles, Seo Gwi created his individual poems and included poems in . In Seo Gwi's , there are a total of 11 poems included. While there are some works that follow the form of Chuseon (楚辭) and some that are written in the style of the Four Poems (四言古詩), but the majority of the works are typical poems written in Sikyung style, employing yeongchangche(聯章體) and cheopyeongche(疊詠體) and adhering to the preface that reveals the background and theme of the creation. The characteristics of the poems included in are as follows: Firstly, through lengthy prefaces akin to independent essays, the poems delved even deeper into the meaning of poetry, elevating its significance. Secondly, while adhering to the formal features of Shījīng(詩經) style poetry, he focused more on creating his own new ideas rather than replicating previous models by imitating poetic words or phrases. Thirdly, by incorporating the structure and content that would normally be sung in Yulsi(律詩) into the format of Shījīng(詩經) style poetry, the creation of shījīng(詩經) style poetry was expanded to the realm of everyday life, rather than simply reproducing classic examples. In this way, Seo Gwi's poetic principles and represented a distinct and unconventional practice of literary restorationism popular in the late Joseon Dynasty. As a result, when viewed in comparison to the tradition, they gave rise to exceptionally unique and unprecedented works in the creation of Shījīng(詩經) style poetry.
