和村實記』와 『竹南聯芳錄』에 나타난 戊申亂 인식의 양상

국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 李述原 부자와 裵斗必 형제의 활약상을 기록한 『和村實記』와 『竹南聯芳錄』에 나타난 무신란 인식 양상의 고찰이다. 『和村實記』와 『竹南聯芳錄』은 무신란에 관한 구체적인 자료가 많지 않은 상황에서 직접 반란군에 항거하거나 토벌에 앞장선 인물들의 활동 양상 및 대항 방식의 차이를 상세히 기술한다는 점에서 자료적 희소성을 가진다. 신분상 지배적 위치에 서는 명문 사대부 또는 고위 관료가 아닌 鄕班에 의해 작성됨으로써 재지 사족의 무신란 인식과 정서를 드러낸다는 점에서 더욱 중요하다. 아울러 당시의 무책임한 수령에 대한 비판과 무고하게 희생된 백성에 대한 안타까운 심정, 고단하고 힘겨운 창의 활동에 대한 묘사 등을 통해 도덕적 大義論에 입각하여 창의한 인물들의 입장과 처지를 대변한다는 점에서 특히 중요하다. 『和村實記』에서는 조선 전기 徐居正에 의해 제기된 守職論의 관점을 수용하여 무단으로 직차를 이탈[擅離職次]한 지방관에 대한 비판을 제기하고 義理의 실천자 입장에서 조상과 군부를 배반[背祖, 叛君父]한 역도의 죄상을 비판하며 고발하였다. 무신란에 대한 자기 인식과 타자 인식이 혼재된 『죽남연방록』에서는 孝에 바탕하여 忠을 실천하라는 家學의 가르침과 ‘종사의 보존과 백성에 대한 구제[存宗社, 濟生靈]’의 훈적 달성 사이의 연관성을 확인하였다. 또한 역도의 수괴들을 체포한 후에 훈적에 따른 포상과 입신양명을 사양하여 자취를 감추고 후회 없는[讓而不居, 韜晦不悔] 겸허한 용퇴에 대한 사실을 분석하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the perception of rebellion in a book 『Hwa-Chon documentary literature[和村實記]』 and 『Juk-Nam Yeon- Bang-Rok[竹南聯芳錄]』 that records the activities of Lee Sul-won[李述原] and his son and Bae Du-pil[裵斗必] brothers. 『Hwa-Chon documentary literature』 and 『Juk-Nam Yeon-Bang-Rok』 is rare in that it describes the differences in the activities and methods of the people who directly resisted or led the subjugation without much specific data on the Mu-sin rebellion. It is more important in that it is written by a group of local scholars, not by a prestigious nobleman or a high-ranking official who occupies a dominant position in terms of status, revealing the awareness and sentiment of local scholars about the Mu-sin rebellion. In addition, it is particularly important in that it represents the position and situation of those who caused the righteous army based on moral theory through criticism of the irresponsible leader at the time, unfortunate feelings about the innocent victims, and descriptions of difficult creative activities. In the 『Hwa-Chon documentary literature』, they accepted an argument made by a writer Seo-Geo-jeong(徐居正) from the early Joseon Dynasty that officials should keep their posts, criticized local officials who left their posts without permission, and accused them of betraying their ancestors, kings, and fathers from the standpoint of practitioners of righteousness. 『Juk-Nam Yeon-Bang-Rok』, which mixes one's own and others' perceptions of the Mu-sin rebellion, confirmed the connection between the teachings of the family to practice loyalty based on filial piety and the achievement of the meritorious deeds of “preservation of the state and relief for the people.” In addition, after arresting the head of the traitors, he refused to reward and resign for his achievements, disappearing and confirming his humble and bold resignation without regret.
