사회적 거리두기 정책이 코로나19 감염 위험 저감에 미치는 영향 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 코로나 바이러스(COVID-19) 감염 확산에 대응한 정책 중 사회적 거리두기 정책의 효과성을 분석하였다. 이를 위해, 본 연구는 세계적으로 통용되고 있는 영국 옥스퍼드대학 코로나19 정부대응지표와 대한민국에서 시행된 사회적 거리두기 정책들을 적용하였다. 통제변수로는 시도별 인구수와 주간 유동 인구량을 고려하였고, 종속변수로는 100만명 당 코로나 확진자 수를 채택하였다. 2021년 1월부터 사회적 거리두기 정책이 해제된 2022년 4월까지, 제주도를 제외한 전국 16개 광역시·도의 주 단위 데이터를 수집하였다. 본 연구에서는 1주일의 코로나19 감염 잠복기를 고려한 시차모형과 이를 감안하지 않은 두 종류의 패널 모형을 고려하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 두 모형 모두 사회적 거리두기 정책(사적 모임인원수 제한)이 강화되었을 때 확진 위험이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the effectiveness of the social distancing policy among thecountermeasures against the coronavirus(COVID-19). To this end, the study employed theworld's most popular COVID-19 government response index at Oxford University and differenttypes of social distancing policies enforced by the Korean government. Total population andweekly floating population at each municipality were considered as control variables. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 confirmed cases per millions were adopted as a dependent variable. From January 2021 to April 2022 (when the social distancing policy was lifted), we collecteddata from 16 metropolitan cities and provinces across the country, excluding Jeju Island, on aweekly basis. Two types of panel models were considered in this study: one with one-week lagthat accounts for the incubation period of COVID-19 infection and the other without a lag. Asa result, we identified that both models showed a reduction in infection risks when the socialdistancing policy (i.e., a ban on private gathering) was intensified.
