박록주 <흥보가>의 정립과 사설의 특징

본고에서는 박록주 명창이 자신의 스타일로 다듬은 대표적인 소리인 <흥보가>의 정립과정과 사설의 특징을 검토하였다.박록주 <흥보가>의 바탕은 김정문 명창에게 배운 송만갑제 <흥보가>이다. 박록주는 40대 후반부터 50대 전반에, 김정문에게 1931년 봄에 배운 <흥보가>를 자신의 스타일에 맞게 다듬었기 때문에 그것은 독자성이 있는 개성적인 소리가 되었다. 박록주가 <흥보가>를 다듬은 결과 그것은 같은 송만갑제 <흥보가> 계통인 강도근 <흥보가>, 박봉술 <흥보가>와 다소 다른 특징을 지니게 되었다. 소리 대목의 구성에서 ‘흥보가 아내 달래는 대목’과 ‘흥보 밥 먹는 대목’을 삭제하였고, ‘흥보 옷 해 입는 대목’과 ‘흥보 아내 옷 해 입는 대목’은 한 대목으로 짰고, ‘사랑치레’는 장단을 바꾸었으며, 제비노정기, 박타령, 비단타령 등은 스승이나 선배 명창의 더늠을 수용한 것인데, 수용하는데 그친 것이 아니고 그것을 자신의 스타일에 맞게 창조적으로 수용하였다. 그리고 전편에 걸쳐 사설이 상당히 간결하게 정리되었고, 골계적인 요소를 대폭 축소하거나 소거함으로써 기품 있고 점잖은 소리가 되었다. 그러나 웃음을 유발하는 대목을 지나치게 간결하게 짬으로써 <흥보가>가 주는 웃는 재미를 제대로 살리지 못한 아쉬움이 있다.

The Completion of Park Rok-Ju's and the Characteristics of Its NarrationKim, Sug BaeThis study has explored the process of the completion of Park Rok-Ju's representative song of his own style and the characteristics of its narration. The results are as follows.First, Park Rok-Ju's was based on Kim Jeong-Mun's , and Kim Jeong-Mun was taught by the great singer Song Man-Gap. In the times from her late forties until early fifties Park Rok-Ju's became a creative song of his own, for he accepted Kim Chang-Hwan's and Baik Jeom-Bong's and elaborated them on the basis of the that he learned from Kim Jeong-MunSecond, Park Rok-Ju's was newly elaborated, so it has the following characteristics partly different from Gang Do-Geun's and Park Bong-Sul's , both of which are of the same descent.1) There were three cases of the formation of the song passage, such as that of the deletion of the passage, the combination of two passages, and the exchange of the rhythm of the passages. 2) , , and accepted and even elaborated creatively the “deoneum” of master singer or senior singers. 3) The whole narration was concisely formed. 4) A lot of humorous parts were reduced or deleted. As a result, it became an elegant and refined song, but it could not reveal the real zest of .
