국문 초록

이 글은 조선시대부터 근대 개화기까지 판소리 음악에 대한 이론이나 유파 개념이 어떻게 형성되어 왔는지를 통시적으로 살펴본 것이다. 조선시대 문인들은 판소리를 기문(奇文)으로 수용하면서 이에 대한 감상이나 번역을 시로 남겼다. 또한 광대예술의 하나로 공연현장의 풍습 등을 시문으로 기록했으나 판소리 음악에 대한 악론으로까지 발전시키지는 못했다. 판소리 악론은 19세기 후반 정현석의 편지나 신재효의 광대가에서 처음으로 정립되기 시작했다. 정현석의 판소리 악론은 조리에 맞고 격조있는 사설, ②단정한 용모와 타고난 목소리, 분명한 발음 발성법과 공연능력, ④절도있는 너름새 등을 제시했고, 이는 신재효의 광대가와 매우 유사하다. 그 뒤 19세기 말-20세기 초에 문헌으로 남아있는 판소리 악론은 없으나, 당시 판소리 음악을 수용한 여러 종류의 소리책이 남아있다. 이를 분석하면 많은 음악적 정보를 얻을 수 있고, 판소리 음악의 변화를 이해할 수 있다. 이 소리책 연구는 학계의 중요한 연구 과제이다. 20세기 이후 유성기음반 녹음이 이루어지면서 실질적인 판소리 음악 연구가 가능해졌다. 유성기음반에 담긴 음악은 정노식이 『조선창극사』에서 제시했던 판소리유파의 개념으로는 설명할 수 없는 여러 음악적 현상이 나타난다. 또한 개화기 신문 잡지에는 판소리 명창들의 다양한 활동기록이 담겨 있다. 음반에 나타나는 음악적 현상과 현실은 기존에 알려진 것과는 다른 점이 많다. 이 시기의 유성기음반 연구는 학계가 함께 연구해야할 과제이다.

영문 초록

This study takes a synchronic look at how the theory and Confucian concept of pansori music evolved from the Joseon Dynasty to the modern flowering period. During the Joseon Dynasty, writers recognized pansori as a written document, leaving appreciation or translation of it as poems. As one of the clown arts, they recorded the customs of the performance scenes in poetry, but failed to develop it into pansori music theory. Pansori music theory was first established in Jung Hyun-seok's letter or Shin Jae-hyo's clown in the late 19th century. Jeong Hyun-seok's Pansori music theory presented 1. a well-matched editorial, 2. a neat appearance and natural voice, 3. clear pronunciation 3. vocalization and performance ability, 4. a modest lark, which is very similar to Shin Jae-hyo's clown. Subsequently, there was no pansori musical theory that remained in the literature in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but it prevailed in various types of pansori texts that recognized pansori music at that time. Analyzing these texts can help derive a great deal of information to understand the changes in pansori music. Accordingly, studying the pansori text is an important research task in academia. Since the 20th century, gramophone recording has made practical pansori music research possible. The music recorded on the gramophone has several musical phenomena that cannot be explained by the concept of the Pansori sect presented by Jeong No-sik in Chosun Changgeuk history. In addition, newspaper magazines during the enlighten-ment period reported various activities of pansori masters. The musical phenomena and reality that appear in the album differ from those previously known. The study of planetary recordings during this period is a task that academia should study together.
