판소리 서사의 재맥락화를 통한 공감서사의 창작

국문 초록

판소리 서사는 현대에도 화나 뮤지컬 등의 대중문화 작품으로 창작되어 대중들에게 사랑을 받고 있다. 그 중 본고에서 주목하는 <인당수 사랑가>는 <춘향가>와 <심청가>를 결합하여 구성한 뮤지컬 작품이다. 이 작품의 서사 구성 방식을 분석하는 일은 판소리 서사의 재맥락화와 관련하여 의미 있는 작업이 될 수 있다. 판소리의 자기동일성 개념에 주목했을 때 판소리 서사가 현대에도 유효한 의미를 가질 수 있도록 하는 데에 기존에 존재하던 작품들의 서사를 결합시키는 방식이 효과적인 재맥락화의 방법이 될 수 있기 때문이다. <인당수 사랑가>의 서사 구조에 대해서 복합서사 구성 원리에 근거하여 분석 해 보았을 때, 서사 결합의 형태적 측면에서는 교차연결형 결합 방식이 적용되었 다고 보았고, 의미적 측면에서는 재맥락화를 통해서 기존 서사와는 다른 방향으 로 진행되도록 한 서사 결합의 의도를 분석할 수 있었다. 이렇게 서사 결합을 통해 새로 형성된 서사에서는 기존의 <춘향가>나 <심청가>가 갖고 있던 의미에 변화가 일어나, 변학도의 낭만적 사랑이 강조되기도 하고, 기존 세상의 권위에 저항하는 춘향에게 부모 또한 넘어야 할 벽으로 제시되었다. 이를 통해 작품의 주인공이 맞닥뜨리는 것과 비슷한 삶의 문제에 놓여 있는 현대의 젊은 관객들에 게 충분한 공감을 주는 서사로서 창작될 수 있었다. 이 사례를 통해 판소리의 전승 및 창작과 관련하여 기존 작품을 온전하게 보존하는 일뿐만 아니라 판소리의 생명력을 살리는 데에는 기존 작품이 가지고 있는 고유한 가치관을 현대에 살려내는 데에도 관심을 가질 필요가 있음을 주장하고자 하다. 삶의 문제에 대해 치열하게 고민하고 건강한 방식으로 문제 를 풀어가고자 했던 판소리의 고유한 가치관은 판소리의 자기동일성으로 이해 될 수 있다. 이러한 관점을 바탕으로 하여 기존의 작품이 갖고 있던 서사들을 결합시키면서 재맥락화하는 작업을 통해 창작된 작품은 공감서사로서 의의를 가질 수 있다.

영문 초록

In the modern age, the Pansori narrative has been disseminated by works of popular culture such as movies and musicals. Among them is Indang's Blues, a musical production comprised of two separate tales: Chunhyangga and Simchungga. Analysis of Indang's Blues’ narrative composition can be a meaningful endeavor for recontextualization of the Pansori narrative. By focusing on Pansori's notion of self-identity, Pansori stories can combine with the narratives of existing works. Such integration, which gives present-day meaning to these narratives, can be an effective recontextualization method. In analyzing the structure of Indang's Blues based on compositional narrative principles, it is clear that cross-connective features are applied both to narrative and semantic aspects. Additionally, the intentions of the epigraphic union were analyzed. In this newly-formed narrative, created through synthesis of two separate narratives, the meaning of the existing Chunhyangga and Simchungga changes. Romantic love between Byeonhakdo and Chunhyang(who resists the authority of the existing world), is emphasized. Due to this, a new plot can be created which provides empathy to young, modern audiences facing the same life problems as the work’s protagonist. Thus, it is necessary not only to preserve the existing works in full (remaining mindful of their traditions and creation), but also to revive their unique values in order to reinvigorate Pansori. Pansori's intrinsic values of healthy problem solving and worrying about life’s concerns can be understood as its self-identity. In light of this, the new piece created by recontextualizing the existing works’ plots can provide a modern significance to sympathy narratives.
