광장 이후, 연대 (불)가능성

국문 초록

이 논문에서는 광장 이후에 대한 상상과 기록들을 검토하면서, 지금의 국면에 대한 다른 해석의 가능성을 열어보려 했다. 광장 이후, 우리는 지금 거대한 조정의 시간을 통과하고 있다. 거대한 반격과 조정의 시간을 통과하면서 연대의 가능성이 희박해지고 있음을 인식하게 되는 것이다. 그런데 과연 그렇게 단언해도 좋은가를 질문해보았다. 연대를 둘러싼 새로운 논의가 시작되어야 한다고 본 것이다. 구체적으로는 윤이형의 소설(｢우리의 2010년대｣나 ｢광장｣)을 통해 자유로운 개인들의 느슨한 연대에 대한 기대가 더 이상 존재하지 않는 상황을 확인하였다. 이미상의 소설(｢여자가 지하철 할 때｣나 ｢모래 고모와 목경과 무경의 모험｣)을 통해 거대한 반격에 대한 대응으로서 중립성의 태도가 내세워지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 요컨대, 변혁을 위한 힘들이 모이는 장소로서의 ‘광장’에 대한 기대가 가득했던 시절을 지나, 우리는 더 이상 낙관적 전망을 갖기 힘든 상황에 처해 있음이 분명하다. 그런데 이러한 현실적 조건에서 연대가 더 이상 불가능하다는 판정은 어쩌면 우리가 과거의 연대 개념에 매여있으며 무엇보다 사회의 변화를 정확하게 인식하지 못하고 있기 때문은 아닌지 살펴보았다. 이서수의 소설(｢엉킨 소매｣)을 통해 연대의 의미 전환이 이루어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

In this paper, I tried to open up the possibility of a different interpretation of the current situation while reviewing narratives of the “post-candlelight” period. After the square, we are now passing through a time of great backlash. As it passes through a time of huge backlash, it is recognized that the possibility of solidarity is decreasing. However, I asked if it was enough to affirm that. It is believed that a new discussion over solidarity should begin. Specifically, Yoon Yi-hyung’s novel confirmed a situation in which expectations for loose solidarity of free individuals no longer exist. Through Lee Mi-sang’s novel, it was confirmed that the attitude of neutrality was being put forward as a response to a huge backlash. In short, it is clear that we are in a situation where it is difficult to have an optimistic outlook, after the days when expectations for a “candlelight” as a place where forces for transformation gather. However, I examined whether the judgment that solidarity is no longer possible under these realistic conditions is probably because we are tied to the concept of solidarity in the past and above all, we are not accurately aware of changes in society. Through Lee Seo-soo’s novel, it was confirmed that the meaning of solidarity was being changed.
