학생상담자원봉사자의 봉사활동 경험 분석

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 학생상담자원봉사자들의 봉사활동에 대한 경험을 분석하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 D광역시 교육청소속 학생상담자원봉사자로서 2021년 첫 해 봉사활동을 경험한 13명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 학생상담자원봉사자로서 첫 해 봉사활동 경험에 관한 기본 질문을 바탕으로 연구 참여자들을 인터뷰하였으며, 인터뷰의 내용을 분석하기 위해 질적 내용분석(qualitative content analysis) 방법을 사용하였다. 연구결과로 학생상담자원봉사자로서 연구 참여자들의 경험은 ‘봉사활동 안에서의 보람’, ‘봉사활동을 통해 변화된 자기모습’, ‘봉사활동 경험에서 인식하는 어려움’, ‘더 나은 봉사활동을 위해 필요한 지원’의 4가지 영역과 34개의 범주로 도출되었다. 본 연구에서 연구 참여자들은 봉사활동을 통해 내담 학생의 긍정적인 변화를 관찰하면서 보람을 느끼고 상담자로서의 책임감과 전문적 자질 향상이 필요하다고 인식하였다. 봉사활동 과정 안에서의 물리적·재정적 지원은 연구 참여자들의 심리적 보상과 직결되어 차후 그들의 봉사활동에 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해서 학생상담자원봉사제도의 효과에 대한 적절한 홍보의 필요성과 학생상담자원봉사자들의 봉사활동을 위한 다양한 측면의 체계적 지원 방안을 기술하였으며, 내담 학생의 관점에서 상담자원봉사자와의 상담경험에 대한 연구를 후속연구로 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to deeply analyze student counseling volunteers’ experiences in their first year. For the purpose of the study, thirteen participants who had experienced in the first year, 2021 as a student counseling volunteers from the Daegu Office of Education were selected. The participants were interviewed based on questions about their counseling experiences in their first year. Interview data were collected and analyzed according to the qualitative content analysis procedure. The study resulted in four domains including ‘rewards of volunteer activities’, ‘a changed self through volunteer activities’, ‘perceived difficulties through volunteer activities’, and ‘required support for better volunteer activities’, and 34 categories. The participants felt rewarded by experiencing the clients’ positive changes and they also mentioned their responsibilities as a counselor and the need to improve professional competencies. Physical and financial support was considered to be directly related to psychological compensation and to affect future volunteer activities. The study also proposed the implications for counseling activities of student counseling volunteers and the limitations of the study and suggestion for future study.
