장애인 자립의 현실과 평생교육의 방향에 관한 포토보이스

국문 초록

본 연구는 장애인 자립의 현실과 평생교육의 방향을 알아보는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 참여적 행동 연구의 하나인 포토보이스 연구 방법을 적용하였다. 연구 목적 달성을 위해 세 가지 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 첫째, 장애인이 일상생활에서 직면하는 자립의 어려움은 무엇인가? 둘째, 평생교육이 장애인의 자립에 도움이 되는 것은 무엇인가? 셋째, 장애인의 자립을 위한 평생교육의 방향은 무엇인가? 연구에 참여한 8명의 장애인은 일상생활 속에서 경험을 사진으로 찍었고, 사진에 다양한 의미를 부여하였으며, 포커스 그룹 토론을 통해 심층적인 이야기를 나누었다. 수집한 자료는 Wang과 Burris(1997)가 제시한 선택하기, 맥락화하기, 성문화하기의 3단계 분석 방법에 따라 분석하였다. 세 가지 연구 문제에 따라 드러난 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장애인이 일상생활에서 직면하는 자립의 어려움은 공간 접근 및 이동의 어려움, 비장애인에게 최적화된 생활 도구, 일상생활 서비스의 한계로 나타났다. 둘째, 평생교육이 장애인의 자립에 도움이 되는 것은 자립에 필요한 기술 및 지식 습득, 다양한 상호작용을 통한 사회성 함양, 사회적 참여 기회를 통한 자존감 상승, 주도적 삶을 위한 자율성 강화로 나타났다. 마지막으로 장애인의 자립을 위한 평생교육의 방향은 직업교육의 강화, 자기관리를 위한 다양한 교육 기회 제공, 비장애인들과의 교류의 장 확대로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the reality of independence for the people with disabilities and the direction of lifelong education. To this end, the photovoice research method, one of the participatory action research, was applied. Three research questions were set to achieve the objectives of the study. First, what are the difficulties of independence that people with disabilities face in their daily lives? Second, what does lifelong education help people with disabilities become independence? Third, what is the direction of lifelong education for the independence of the people with disabilities? Eight people with disabilities in the study took pictures of experiences in their daily lives, gave various meanings to the pictures, and shared in-depth stories through focus group discussions. The collected data was analyzed according to the three-step analysis method by Wang and Burris(1977): selecting, contextualizing, and codifying.The findings from the three research questions are as follows. First, the difficulties in independence faced by people with disabilities in daily life were manifested as difficulties in accessing and moving space, living tools optimized for the general public, and limitations in daily life services. Second, lifelong education helps people with disabilities to become independent by acquiring skills and knowledge necessary for independence, cultivating social skills through various interactions, increasing self-esteem through opportunities for social participation, and strengthening autonomy for leading a proactive life. Lastly, the direction of lifelong education for the independence of people with disabilities was to strengthen vocational education, provide various educational opportunities for self-management, and expand opportunities for exchange with non-disabled people.
