전형 유형론에 기반한 한국어 피동 교육의 대안적 접근

국문 초록

목적 : 한국어 피동 교육에서 통사적 방식을 비판하며 피동사 중심의 어휘적 방식이 주를 이루고 있으나 이로 인하여 가능, 자발, 결과 등의 비전형적인 피동 표지의 용법이 함께 제시되면서 학습자들에게 혼란을 유발하고 있다. 따라서 전형 유형론의 관점에서 피동을 정리하고 한국어 피동 교육의 대안을 제시하고자 하였다. 방법 : 전형 유형론은 언어들에 나타나는 공통성을 통해 모범적인 특징을 정리하는데, 이런 관점에서 피동은 높은 타동성, 피동작주 목적어의 승격, 동작주 주어의 강등, 동사에 피동 표지의 결합이 나타난다. 결과 : 외국인을 위한 한국어 교재에서 피동은 ‘-(으)ㄹ 수 있-’에 대응하는 가능으로 제시되거나 ‘-어 있-’과 결합하는 결과상으로 설명하기도 하는데 이와 같은 예를 전형적인 피동과 구분해서 제시해야 한다. 결론 : 능동과 피동이라는 통사 구조의 대응이 기본이 되는 전형적 피동을 이해하도록 돕고 이런 피동 구문의 변환을 먼저 제시하며 비전형적인 용법은 따로 구분할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The syntactic method of teaching passive is criticized and the lexical method is used as the main one in Korean. So the non-canonical use of passive markers such as potential, spontaneous, and resultative are presented together, causing learners' confusion. Therefore, this paper tried to rearrange the passive and suggest an alternative approach to teaching Korean passive based on Canonical Typology. Methods: Canonical Typology conducts canonical characteristics through commonalities in languages. From this perspective, the passive is characterized by high transitivity, promotion of patient object, demotivation of agent subject, and combination of passive markers with verbs. Results: In Korean textbooks for foreigners, passive is presented as a potential corresponding to -ul su iss- or explained as a resultative of combining with -e iss-, and these usages must be presented separately from canonical passive. Conclusion: It is helpful to understand canonical passive based on the correspondence between active and passive syntactic structures. it is necessary to present the non-canonical usage of passive markers to be distinguished separately based on this syntactic transformation of the canonical passive.
