국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 독일통일과정에서 통일의 기폭제 역할을 해온 ‘베를린 장벽’(Berliner Mauer) 붕괴의 역할을 분석하면서 이를 참고로 한반도 통일의 함의를 도출하자는 데 있다. 이 분석은 베를린 장벽의 구축으로부터 붕괴되기까지의 과정을 네 가지 외부적 행위요인(전승4국, 3+1체제, 고르바초프, 2+4회담)과 세 가지 국내적 행위요인(베를린 장벽, 동서독 주민, 샤보브스키)에 초점을 두고 이들 간의 상호관계적 측면에서 비교분석하고자 한다. 이 연구는 베를린 장벽의 붕괴가 독일통일을 이룬 단초적 선례가 되는 만큼, 통일한국에서도 비무장지대(DMZ)의 역할이 무엇인지도 동시에 고찰한다. 즉 독일통일과정이 동서독 당국 간의 정상회담이나 협상 차원만은 아니었듯이, 우리도 남북한 통일을 위해서는 베를린 장벽 붕괴의 역할을 해낸 통일독일 사례처럼 DMZ 문제에 있어 이를 벤치마킹할 필요성이 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of the collapse of the ‘Berliner Mauer’(Berlin Wall), which has served as a catalyst for unification in the process of German unification, and to derive the implications of unification on the Korean Peninsula by referring to this. This analysis aims to compare and analyze the process from the establishment of the Berlin Wall to the collapse in terms of interrelationships between four external action factors (four countries, 3+1 system, Gorbachev, 2+4 talks) and three domestic action factors (Berlin Wall, East-West German residents, and Shabowski). This study also examines the role of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in a unified Korea, as the collapse of the Berlin Wall sets a preliminary precedent for German unification. In other words, just as the German unification process was not just a summit talks or negotiations between East and West German authorities, we also need to benchmark the DMZ issue, as in the case of a unified Germany that played a role in the collapse of the Berlin Wall.
