수학 교과서의 비교 분석을 통한 ‘가능성’ 지도 방안 탐색

국문 초록

초등학교 수학과 교육과정에 ‘가능성’이라는 주제가 확률을 대신하여 도입된 것은 2009 개정 교육과정 이후로, 가능성 지도를 위한 바람직한 방법에 대한 연구 및 관련 교육과정과 교과서 분석 연구가 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 교육과정 및 교과서 개발에 있어 가능성의 지도 방안에 관한 시사점을 얻고자, 우리나라 2015 개정 교과서와 더불어 수학적 확률 개념 지도 전 ‘가능성’을 다루는 외국 교과서 3종(핀란드, 싱가포르, 미국)을 주제별 내용 요소에 따라 비교 분석하였다. 이를 통해 분석대상 교과서의 특징을 기술하였고, 연구 결과에 기초하여, 가능성 판단 및 가능성의 말 표현과 관련한 다양한 소재의 사용, 가능성 관련 상황의 선택과 구성 등 특정 상황과 가능성을 연계한 탐구 과제 및 발문 제공, 가능성의 수 표현 범위의 검토, ‘일어날 가능성이 같은’의 의미 지도에 대해 논의하고 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The concept of ‘chance’ in elementary school mathematics has been introduced instead of ‘probability’ since the 2009 revised national curriculum and research on the concept has been insufficient. The purpose of this study is to suggest some desirable methods for teaching the concept of chance in elementary school level. To do this, we compared three elementary mathematics textbooks from Finland, Singapore, and the United States that deal with the chance before teaching the mathematical probability to Korean textbook according to the 2015 revised national curriculum. Based on these results of comparative analysis, we described the characteristics of teaching the concept of chance in these elementary mathematics textbooks and made some suggestions such as using various situations related to the determination and representation of chance, providing tasks and questions that connect particular situations with chances such as the selection and composition of chance-related situations, reviewing the range of numbers that represent chances, and emphasizing on teaching the concept of ‘equally likely’ for developing the curriculum and its materials(e.g. textbooks) in relation to the chance.
