국문 초록

수학교과서는 학생이 수학을 의미 있게 학습할 수 있도록 개발되어야 하며 이를 위해서는 수학교과서를 개발할 때 학생의 학습에 대한 현장 연구가 병행되는 것이 효과적이다. 이러한 필요성을 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 2015 개정 수학교과서 5학년 1학기 현장검토본 중 규칙과 대응 단원을 수업에 적용한 사례를 분석하였다. 초등학교 1개 학급을 연구 대상으로 선정한 후 해당 학급에서 총 5차시의 수학 수업을 실행하였으며, 수업에서 드러나는 학생들의 실제적인 반응을 규칙과 대응의 핵심 교수․학습 요소의 측면에서 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 2015 개정 수학교과서 현장검토본의 규칙과 대응 단원은 학생들이 두 양 사이의 관계를 대응적으로 탐구하고 변수에 대한 이해를 신장하는 데 대체로 적합한 편이었으나, 두 양 사이의 대응 관계가 덧셈 관계인 경우를 지도하는 측면에서는 보완이 요구되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 2015 개정 수학교과서에서 규칙과 대응을 지도하는 방안 및 교과서 개발에 관련한 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Mathematics textbooks play an important role for students to engage in meaningful learning, but there has been lack of research on how students learn mathematics with new textbooks under development. This study analyzed mathematics lessons about patterns and correspondence in the elementary mathematics textbook aligned to the 2015 revised curriculum. As the unit of ‘patterns and correspondence’ emphasizes four key instructional elements (i.e., relation to real-life contexts, diversity of pattern tasks, exploration for a correspondence relationship, and teaching variables), we used them as the analytic framework of students’ learning. The results of this study showed that the unit of ‘patterns and correspondence’ in the elementary mathematics textbook aligned to the 2015 revised curriculum had significant impact on how the fourth graders reasoned about the correspondence relationship and used variables. The results of this study also demonstrated that students had difficulties in understanding and exploring an additive relationship than a multiplicative relationship. Based on these results, this study provides textbook writers with implications on what to further consider in dealing with patterns and correspondence.
