국문 초록

우리 도자사에 거대한 맥을 이루었던 고려청자는 안타깝게도 고려의 패망과 함께 역사에서 사라졌다. 그러다 일제강점기에 와서 고려청자의 진정한 가치에 매료되었던 일본인들에 의해서 다시 복원된다. 이처럼 청자의 재현(再現)은 특수한 시대적 상황에 맞물린 탓에 조선인들에 의해 주도적으로 발전되지 못하였고 일본인들에 의해 그릇된 양상으로 제작되었는데, 청자의 새로운 창작 보다는‘고려청자의 재현’에만 치우쳐져서 기법이나 문양 등의 전승 양식만을 적당히 모방한 청자들이 대량으로 쏟아져 나왔고 이 때에 만들어진 조악한 청자들은 자국민들의 인식 속에 청자는 ‘오래되고 칙칙한 것’이라는 자연스러운 고정관념을 만들어 냈다. 그리고 이러한 관념이 만들어 낸 청자는 근현대에 이르기까지 전승과 재현이라는 울타리를 벗어나지 못한 채 답보상태에 머물러 있으며 새로운 청자의 독창적인 발전을 저해하는 요인이 되고 있다. 현대를 이끌어가는 요즘 세대들은 모바일을 이용한 가상 디지털 환경에 익숙한 세대로 현대 사회는 예측할 수 없을 만큼 빠르게 변모하고 있고 이에 따른 소비자의 요구 역시 하루가 다르게 바뀌고 있다. 이에 발맞춰 청자 역시 전통의 답습에서 벗어난 새로운 제작기법의 연구로 현대의 생활과 잘 어울릴 수 있는 색과 디자인을 모색해야 할 시점이다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 조선시대를 지나 근대로 넘어오는 과정에서 청자가 재현되는 시대적 배경과 문제점을 고찰하면서 오늘날 청자에 대한 우리의 인식이 어떻게 생겨나게 되었는지 살펴보았다. 그리고 2000년대 이후에 한국에서 활동하고 있는 국내 청자 작가들의 작업을 분석하여 현대청자의 경향을 알아보았다. 또한 전통의 이미지를 탈피하고 현대인들의 마음을 사로잡은 청자 상품과 일반인들을 대상으로 한 청자의 선호도 설문 조사 결과를 토대로 소비자들이 원하는 청자를 분석하여 앞으로 현대청자 제작의 방향에 대하여 제시하였다. 가격보다는 개인의 취향을 더 중요하게 생각하는 현대인들의 가치관을 만족시킬 수 있는 것은 수공예품이 가지고 있는 특별함에 새로운 요소를 갖춘 청자만이 가능할 것이다. 그래서‘천년의 비색’이란 패러다임을 뛰어넘을 미래의 청자가 앞으로 많이 제작되길 기대해 본다.

영문 초록

Goryeo celadon, which formed a huge vein in our ceramic history, unfortunately disappeared from history with the fall of Goryeo. Then, during the Japanese occupation period, it was restored by the Japanese who were fascinated by the true value of Goryeo celadon. As such, the reproduction of celadon was not led by the Joseon people due to the special circumstances of the times, but was produced in a wrong way by the Japanese. A large number of celadon pieces that appropriately imitated traditional styles such as techniques and patterns were poured out, focusing on ‘reproduction of Goryeo celadon’ rather than new creation of celadon. The poor celadon made at this time created a natural stereotype that celadon was 'old and dull' in the perception of the people. And the celadon created by this notion has remained at a standstill without escaping the barrier of transmission and reproduction until the modern age, becoming a factor hindering the creative development of new celadon. These days, leading the modern generation, are familiar with the virtual digital environment using mobile devices. Modern society is changing at an unpredictable speed, and consumer demands are also changing day by day. In line with this, it is time to search for colors and designs that can go well with modern life by researching new production techniques that deviate from the tradition of celadon. In this study, we first looked at how our perception of celadon today came into being, while examining the background and problems of the times in which celadon was reproduced in the process of passing through the Joseon Dynasty and into modern times. In addition, by analyzing the work of domestic celadon artists active in Korea after the 2000s, the trend of modern celadon was investigated. In addition, celadon products that have escaped the traditional image and captivated the hearts of modern people were investigated, and a survey on the preference of celadon targeting the general public was conducted. And based on the results, we analyzed the celadon that consumers wanted and suggested the direction of modern celadon production in the future. Only celadon with new elements in the uniqueness of handicrafts can satisfy the values of modern people who value personal taste more than price. So, I look forward to the production of many celadon in the future that will surpass the paradigm of ‘color of the millennium’.
